If you come in from the west on 105 you will go south on the 336 Loop for about a mile. The exit to 2854 will be on your right and as you take that exit you will IMMEDIATELY pull into their parking lot.

For those coming from I-45 N you can exit at the 336 Loop and go westbound. The loop will curve north and you will want to take the 2854 exit. The exit will take you 180 degrees back to 2854, you will go west on 2854 under the 336 loop and then take the 336 loop southbound ramp as if to get back on 336. The pie shop will be on your left side just before you make the jump back onto 336.

For those coming from I-45 S you can exit at the 336 Loop and go westbound. The loop will curve south, you will cross Hwy 105 and then follow the above directions.

For those coming I-45 N or S you can exit at Hwy 105 and go westbound a couple of miles to the 336 Loop and then go south. Follow the above directions.

For those coming in on 105 from the east just stay on 105 through Conroe, past I-45 and then follow the above directions.

Questions?

And since it's close enough to walk, yeah, I'll probably be there wearing my snazzy new TWT t-shirt that arrived today.

Roodawg, before you can participate in a pie run you'll have go through an initiation ceremony, perform certain rituals and learn the secret handshake.

Joking aside, it's just an excuse to have a monthly meet-and-greet. Come on out and join us. 8-)

Hi, Dutch. No plan of attack yet. Given the distance and the available time, it looks like a "deep post route" on the way down. From here that looks like 4-lanes to about Livingston and then west. Slightly more entertaining would be through the woods to Rusk, down 69 to Alto, then over to Crockett or somesuch and south. I see Jay is on the list. You guys mapped a route from Tyler?

My initial plan was to head through Crockett like you mentioned but would require hitting the road by 7am. Return trip would be a little further east and finally up through Rusk. I haven't done a lengthy trip in a while so I plan to make a full day of it rain or shine. Ooops did I say rain?

Dutch, Google map says 147 miles from Rusk. Wanna meet at the intersection of 69 and 84 at, say, 7:45? I can leave here by 7 easily. I figure you and bantry dr are about 40 minutes from Rusk. We can rendezvous there and race to Conroe. Rusk to Alto to Crockett and down (through Huntsville or slide over and take I-45?) if you can talk Dave into going, there should be lots of stunting opps between Alto and Crockett.

I'll give you more details on my route when I get home tonight. If Dave does any stunting on I45, he'll probably need a couple of us to block traffic as usual. I think he prefers the loop in Lufkin if I'm not mistaken. :lol2:

OK here's a suggestion if anybody from the Tyler area wants to ride for pie: We meet at the Whataburger on 69 and 84 in Rusk. Stands up at 7:45.

123 miles from Rusk to Conroe.

I planned to ride 69 from Tyler to Rusk.
23 to 294 to 3016 to 227 to 2022 to Crockett
19 to 405 to 190 to 2296 to 75 to Loop 336 in Conroe
From Conroe I was planning to meander across Lake Livingston and up near Lufkin and finally back to Rusk.

Total mileage from Tyler is 377.
Warning: I personally hate to speed but my VFR has a defect that makes it ride a few points above the speed limit.

cool!.... the main reason I'm a "maybe" is that I was hoping to ride up to Caddo Lake and stay in Uncertain, Texas. But, it looks like there's only a difference of 57 miles if I ride to Conroe first, then up to Uncertain. I was also looking for a place about halfway to break up the drive for one night. Looks like Conroe would be perfect and about half-wayish.

I really wanted to make this one. Due to a sudden illness in my wife's family, we will be going to Marquez this weekend. If I get the sense that a little pie and friendly faces will cheer up my wife, we will stop on the way. At first mention, she was just wanting to get up to Marquez ASAP.

Our kids will be in tow (they will be an easy sell for pie  ), so make that a big maybe for Velocipede + 3.

Not far at all. 3 weeks after buying my first bike in 25 years I went to the Marble Falls Pie Run which is about another 50-100 miles on top of the miles you'll be doing to come here. Come on down.

Sweet! That would be great if we can ride out together. Do you take main roads (71/21/290...) out there or is there a more "fun" route? I'll PM you so we can set a meet time/place. I have approval to go but I will say that I am a fair weather rider. I hate riding in the rain and don't have the proper gear for it either. If there is any real chance (i.e. > 30%) of rain in the forecast I'll have to bail.

Add one more name to the list. Since this is close, I'll probably bring the KLR.

We are talking about doing a DualSport ride after the mass consumption of pie, in case anyone wants to tag along. It will probably be more dirt roads with little (if any) single track.

OK. Called the restaurant this morning and spoke with Marlene, the manager. They are excited to host our motley crew and they will make sure to stock plenty of pie. The total seating capacity (indoors) is 70, but they said that an eating time of 11AM is perfect as you will be ahead of the local rush by about an hour to and hour and a half. Please try to be ontime. Normally they have you place an order at the counter, but for us they will be taking orders at the tables.

Texas T: Can you try to meet up with Marlene sometime on Saturday and thank her for hosting us?

Nah, it's a co-workers son....I am just glad that I got out of the wedding part of it. The reception is always the better part.

We had our wedding and reception at the church, I ended up getting most of the reception setup as she was getting ready at the church well before the time of the ceremony.

Depending upon today's interview I'm 99% sure that I'll be there, and if so I'll be sure to give her our thoughts of appreciation. If I can't make it I'll post up and someone can take over for me. Assuming that I can make it I'll get there about 10:30, find out where she wants us to park, etc. I'll even TRY to take over for Chuck and bring a notebook so that I can record what names go with what photos.

Busy Saturday:

I really wanted to make this one. Due to a sudden illness in my wife's family, we will be going to Marquez this weekend. If I get the sense that a little pie and friendly faces will cheer up my wife, we will stop on the way. At first mention, she was just wanting to get up to Marquez ASAP.

Our kids will be in tow (they will be an easy sell for pie  ), so make that a big maybe for Velocipede + 3.

SW / W / NW Houston Riders - Here is the plan if you want to ride up with the group:

8:00 KSU - Starbucks W Airport @ Hwy 6 (Inside Kroger)

8:25 Quick Stop @ Barker Cypress @ I10 for Katy Riders to fall in line

9:00 KSU - Starbucks Hwy 6 @ 290 (SE Corner)

Arrive Pie In The Sky ~10:45

102 miles from Sugarland, 86 miles from Katy, 73 miles from NW Starbucks

*KSU=Kick Stands Up - Please have a full tank at your meet-up point. If you want coffee, time to chat with others, etc. please plan to arrive early. We need to leave each point at (or close to) the specified time to stay on schedule. I don't have fancy software, so Google Earth estimated the times. The only time I've led a group to a pie run we arrived after everyone was done eating, so I've padded the times just a bit in hopes that it helps us out.

For those coming in from the west on 105, Conroe PD and Montgomery County and DPS will normally be patrolling near the lake so watch your speed. There is a Kawasaki / Victory dealer on your right after you come in past the lake. It sits up about 30 feet above the road level.

For those coming to the restaurant southbound on 336 from 105, watch your speed on the exit to 2854. It is a sharp right followed by another sharp right into the parking lot.

Don't sweat it Clint. When we took that run down 2920 after lunch that day we had to keep slowing down because of those Harleys in front of us who slowed down to 45 before EVERY LITTLE CURVE IN THE ROAD!!!!

You'll do fine keeping up with anyone except the sportbikes and that is simply mechanical advantage.
