Someone on another forum asked for a link to the local MSF course. I can't find that post, so I'll throw it in here.
They offer classes throughout Texas, but the closest to Houston is Rosenberg (down at the Ft Bend County Fairgrounds).

Are you taking it this weekend? Have you seen the pretty Kawasaki Ninja 250 in the For Sale section?

Or, even better yet!

The Gs is ready to go and you don't have to do a thing to it! It is a good price too if it has not already been sold!

Not this weekend, next (March 20-21).
I have been thinking more about the GS500 since seeing how well Debbie handled hers, but I still have a thing for fairings (so shoot me for wanting a pretty bike).
Well, seems I got lucky - the '04 GS500F comes fully faired, and the stacked headlights look like the GSX-R. New retail is still under $5k, too!
I have to get down to a dealer to have a sit and see what it feels like.

:tab I've yet to see one at a dealer. The only one we've seen was at the Cycle Show in Dallas last Novemeber. I'd call around, especially the main Stubbs Cycle down on Telephone Rd. I was just in the Cycle Shack North in Conroe and did not see one there. You realize I will continue to nag you about getting a naked bike for your first bike? :-P

Yes, but I am not bothered by the nagging. Unless you're coming down to this side of town, you can't hurt me!
It'll be up to me to keep the bike upright, and I'll be even more determined to do so if I know how much it'll hurt to scratch or crack a fairing.

Hey Rebecca,
Just wanted to say "GOOD LUCK" w/ the class this weekend. Remember to bring something to drink and stay hydrated. Let us know how it went and what bike you wind up getting. Hope to see you again some time soon.

I went to Stubbs SW and sat on the GS500F and the SV650S. The GS felt a little cramped when I got both feet up on the pegs, but that could just be my inexperience in the riding position.
I am leaning more towards the SV now, but want to stay with an 03 or 04 (I like the fuel injection and would love the warranty for as long as possible since I know nothing of mechanics).
35 hours and counting until the class starts... I rode past the Fairgrounds the other night to get a feel for how far it was so I won't be late (don't want to get kicked out for something that silly).
I'll be sure to hop on here as soon as I can to post my experience and let y'all know how I did! Thanks for the well wishes Snoop!

:tab If you are down to those two bikes, get the SV650S!! You'll love it and can ride it forever without worrying about outgrowing it. And there is just something about the bike that makes it a real hoot to ride on the backroads :dude:
Have fun in the class!!
