Well we got the trees cut out finally, over 100 total on Saturday 10/3 so Jason with the SHNF says he will reopen the west side trails we cleared (Woodpecker, Honeymoon, and Kelly's Pond trails). There is still a lot of exposed roots, washouts, tall grasses, soft sand, and tons of pine needles on these trails, but no fallen trees blocking them thanks to all the hard work from our 40 volunteers that gave up their Saturday last weekend to cut those trees out. The trails will need to be ridden a lot to get them back to packed in again, but that is why we worked them to begin with. :rider:

On behalf of the Sam Houston Trails Coalition I would like to thank Larry, Old Dudes On Dirt Bikes and all others volunteers for there hard work. This is what is going to keep the forest open.

  :rider:

Will it be Friday or Saturday? Recording hasn't changed.

Called J.M. few minutes ago Gates are open Fridays looks good woodsguy.

If the gates are open, the trails are open. FYI- String, Balloon, and Big Loop will remain closed until we can get them cleaned, whenever, but Honeymoon, Kelley's Pond, and Woodpecker trails are open on the west side.

Call them again Woodsguy, the recording has been changed.

Trails on the west side are getting beat down again. We had about 25 bikes at Kelly's pond and more at the west side trailhead on Saturday. Hopefully there were a lot of riders out there today also. Should be beat down by a couple of weeks of riding and flowing better again real soon. Come out and ride the west side guys!
