Just get a chat program. It is easier.

irc.twtex.com

channel is #twtex

I like Trillian Basic 3. Includes ICQ and other stuff as well.

I had the same issues, but Tourmeister walked me through it.
PM him and see when he'll be able to give you the step-by-step.

(I have since reformatted my hard drive and haven't bothered to load it back in)

I wrote down the following settings for Trillion before I swapped computers... can't remember what settings box this goes in but here are some notes for you.

Put a check mark by "reconnect" and use 10 x 60 seconds setting

Put check mark by "perform buffer"

Use the command of /join #twtex; (insert space) /nick (insert space) (insert nickname of choice)

I'm not sure that helps or not.... good luck - once you get Trillion running it's very cool.

Under the Identities & Connections area --> Add New Connection --> IRC

Server Alias --> "Twtex"
irc.trillian.com::6667 --> Change to "irc.twtex.com"
Nickname --> Name you want displayed in chat session
Username --> TWT Username (can be same as nick)
Userinfo --> I just put my username here as well
check the automatic connect button under all that

Next, click the "CHANGE" button in the top right of the box
On the "Connection" tab

check the "Reconnect after disconnect"
Mine is set to 100, 60 seconds between tries

check the "Perform Buffer" and put the following in the box
"/join #twtex; /nick [nickname you want to use]"

Next, on the "Miscellaneous" tab
check the "always show status window on connection creation"

Save Settings

When you are back to the Identities & Connections page, just select the IRC connection you just created and hit "Connect"

If you get into the chat room, there will likely be several people logged in. However, that does not mean they are sitting there so don't worry if no one repsonds right away. Most folks are on during the evenings from about 8:00pm till midnight. A few of us are logged in all the time.

Holler if you need more assistance. ;-)
