Just finished up the 12k+16k service on the VFR (at 13.5k). Probably should have done all this stuff after I got the bike (9k), but theoretically it had just had the 8k done. I know, I shouldn't assume that--bad new owner, bad!
Oil and filter change.
New fork oil.
New racetech .9kg springs.
New waterpump o-ring.
Coolant change.
Brake fluid front and rear.
Clutch fluid.
Air filter.
Spark plugs.
Check valve clearances--all in spec :)
Repaired nose fairing crack with abs glue.
Pulled carbs to hunt down a fuel leak/running rich condition. Turns out the choke "slide rail" on the carbs was sticking and never releasing more than half way, so the bike was running on half choke all the time. The old plugs were very sooty and black. Maybe now I'll get more than 36mpg. 8)
And most importantly...
New rear Dunlop 220.
I haven't ridden since getting back from my last trip on 3/10. The damaged mail-order tire set things back more than a week. Not that I minded since I had the bike completely apart and was also waiting on the plugs and airfilter from servicehonda. All the bodywork was off and pieces were all over the garage. I think my wife was getting worried because everytime she came home, there was more stuff missing.

After I had the carbs out this morning, I thought about pulling the engine just because I was so close to having a bare frame. Sort of a "while ye'r in there" thing, but decided to just reassemble it. Amazingly, I got it all back together tonight with no pieces leftover!
Tomorrow, I ride! :-D
