View Full Version : First month of sobriety…..
Hard to believe I’ve been bikeless for a whole month now… getting captivated by the ins and outs of the new minivan on www.odyclub.com (http://www.odyclub.com/) has helped take the “edge” off. I must admit I am in the “honeymoon” phase with Honda. :sun:
Dover’s Dakar FS has been very hard to resist, it’s an excellent deal on exactly the DS bike I’d want, but I must stick to “the plan”. Wife’s Dr. told her today that she could induce labor a week before the due date, which put us at 4 weeks from D day. :eek2:
I must have somehow disrupted the order of things…. A very good friend of mine (Tom F.) called me today and said that he is looking at trading in his 1150GS on a Heritage Softail…. Knowing how much he enjoys the twisties, the HD seems to me like the wrong choice. I tried to talk him into getting a VFR + XR650R….. Or maybe he was just playing a joke on me….:lol2:
Y’all be safe out there, we’ll see you out there on the road ….. eventually :rider:

Does your mini van really sound like an Indy car, just like the commercial?

congrats on the kid. As far as minivans go, if ya gotta get one, the honda is the one to have.

Hey, another Odyssey owner here. When we got it, I was thinking, "Ugh, it's not a bike, so what do I care?" But the thing grew on me. It's handy, and it's all the luxury I really want, so yay.
Good luck on the upcoming poppage, and with the ongoing moto-addiction. ;-)

Adan, you can always come by and ride ol' Blue Jeans if you need a temporary fix.

Yup, c'mon, just one ride won't hurt..... :-P

Thanks Les, I really appreciate the kind offer and might have to take you up on it someday. BTW, I found the amber turnsignal lenses the other day in the garage, let me know if you need and/or want them.
So far it's been a lot of fun to spend all weekend playing with Aidan (2YO) w/o the temptation of having a bike in the garage that "needs" riding ;-) Things will be getting much more busy next month until we adjust to having two kiddos and getting only a few hours of sleep a day/at a time.

Yup, it's the only one the spousal unit would approve :lol2: She was set on getting another 7-8 passenger SUV; I like the functionality of the minivans, and since we don't have anything to tow or ever go off-road with it, it is just a better fit for our needs.

I'll have to find the thread on Odyclub, RACER X may also recall it, where there was talk of a track comparo of a 2nd. Gen. Ody and two sports cars. The Ody was said to compare very favorably against the sports cars :trust:
Perhaps good weight distribution helps it somewhat. :-P

My wager is Adan has another bike in the garage in a couple of months. Once a junkie.......

and since we don't have anything to tow
we plan on getting the towing package, so we can tow the bikes to the track. :rider:

Note that I saved a few $$$ by getting the hitch outside of Honda, then (after realizing the warranty is voided if I tow without the various oil/ATF coolers and stuff) get the rest of the stuff. Not sure, though, if the Honda hitch setup uses a ribbon cable for the light hookup or if it's a nice neat plug near the hitch.

lol, that'll be our pretty much our same setup. except nekkid SV, same trailer, same ramp, '05 silver touring.
i think we're gonna go w/ honda stuff all the way, the hitch has more clearance w/ the OE hitch vs aftermarket.

Prolly a good idea, I'm finally starting to get used to the scraping sound of my aftermarket hitch...

Get some rest now while you can...got a 2 YO and a 3 week old at home...had to come back to work so I could get some rest.
Joy rides have "gone" by the wayside, but sometimes my commute takes me a little "out of the way" to "Avoid traffic"
