Anybody know any interesting routes to Pensacola that won't take two days? I will be leaving on Monday the 19th and have to be in Pensacola that night. Racing Starts the next day. Don't want to ride I-10, but don't want to be in the saddle for 28 hours.
Especially since I will have ridden to Austin the Weekend before I leave. On a Bicycle. But that is another story. Anybody interested in donating money to a great cause, contact me about supporting my two daughter's and I in or riding of the MS150. Which is a misnomer, since we all know it is farther than 150 miles to Austin.
What about that, I hijacked my own thread, even before it made in online...

I know some great roads between here and Fla. Only problem is they are all North of I-20 :-P

190 wasn't bad, with the exception of some construction in LA.
How do you get to Florida while staying north of I-20?

Go to the end at I-95 in SC and head south I guess.

There is a coastal river road that was a nice drive near New Orleans. We stopped at a plantation home (Oak Alley) for a tour. It is off of State Road 18 which follows the Mississippi River. US-90 from Lafayette will get you over to that area.

Funny you should mention it. We were just there for spring break. We didn't make it any further east than Houma, and we didn't go to Oak Alley this time, but we did do the tour at the Mayweather Plantation. Swamp tour. Then rode the coastal route over to Surfside and then home.

I didn't ;-) But those roads are still between here and Florida :-P I'd go there by way of Arkansas, Northern Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, etc,... A little out of the way, but if you are looking for good roads... well...

I guess I am looking for something that really doesn't exist. A scenic fast route that parrallels I-10. That will only take me 8-9 hours to travel...
