Squidward and I took our cat, Moose (yes, Moose is female ;-) ), to get a grooming done yesterday. She's a long hair manx/siamese mix and she normally gets her hair shaved off for her summer 'do. We also were taking her to the vet later in the day for her annual shots...
We tried out a new groomer who ended up calling us not too far into Moose's grooming to say that she nicked her skin. No biggie, cats have thin skin and are prone to a nick here and there. A little while later they called back and said Moose got nicked again and that it was getting hard to groom her and we could just come pick her up if we wanted. The last time the Moose was weighed, she was a WHOPPING 4.9lbs....I know....huge ;-)
We get to the groomers and Moose has a nasty cut on her side and one between her back legs. Her skin in that area is paper thin and the poor lady felt so bad that Moose got cut.
Later at her vet appointment Dr. Lisa (the awesomest vet in the world) weighed her and she's lost some weight, coming in at 3.9lbs and can NOT afford to lose any weight. She'a already lost so much weight she has a stegosaurus looking back :-(
Her tests come back normal so Dr. Lisa is perplexed but think it's a kitty IBS problem, so Moosie is now on a hypo-allergenic diet to see if she'll pack on some pounds since her body isn't getting enough nutrients from her food. Being somewhere between 16 - 18 years old, she's a cranky old lady, but has been healthy as a horse up until now.
Dr. Lisa put staples on the lacerations from the groomer and said that she wasn't surprised that it happened since her skin was so thin and she has no padding.
So if anyone could afford to send'em, Moosie needs some good thoughts and prayers sent her way :zen:
