Dirt Road run to Bedias 7-30-06

I had a great time, it was good to see everyone. It was a good hot and dusty ride. According to my gps I did 200 miles and polished off my 64oz. camel back. Here is the track from the run...

Back to the dirt and dust, although I was in front so the dust was not that bad. After lunch Tourmeister took the lead to take us to a forgotten CR.

ok i am sorta jealous i didnt get to ride on that grassy ole dirt road....but hey, i got to go see def leapord in concert...journey opened for them...so cuttin out right after a great lunch in bedias was well worth it....neener neener neener.....j/k guys...i had alot of fun today on that ride...i look forward to going with ya'll again...crikes!! am i going to be draggin the ole bum tomorrow or what...just got home after all that beer (lightweight here) at the concert.....good thing i had a designated driver...

when is the next dual sport run...!!!!!???

I have been off the bike too long. I am sore... I did about 170 miles. Had blast! Will be picking crusty dusty boogers for a few days without a doubt... :brainsnap

The burger won that battle... I could not put it down. Barely even touched the fries and they were really good homemade fries from scratch! I thought that little cafe was pretty good. I could have done without the cig smoke though, not my thing. The owner was pretty cool.

2. How do I prevent cow/buzzard nightmares? Picture this, a big tan cow laying in a field surronded by buzzards and (according to Bryan) the cow was STILL ALIVE! Ewww.

Heck yeah it is stromable, we were mainly on fairly well maintained un paved county roads. Tourmeister showed us a neat cut through that was smooth, except for the big mud hole. I was needing a dirt fix so I plowed through it and almost got redirected.:rider:

I still keep seeing that picture in my head, it was very bizarre. This big fat cow laying in the field with buzzards standing on top and around it.:eek: I could have sworn I saw the cow try to brush the buzzards away with its head but they wouldn't budge.
Maybe these were the same buzzards from the Chicken Ranch run, the must be following me:scratch:

Man I missed the cow buzzard thing, must have had dust in my eye, nose, ear, and throat. Hopefully the buzzard was just yanking the flesh off of the head causing it to move.

But if you want to go on dreaming about buzzards we will ride and find more.

Hey Brian do you have the GPS file for that route or a turn by turn?
Here are the garmin .gpx and .gdb files.
I took the track of the ride then made a route on top of the track then deleted the track and saved the route.
Larry let me know if you can open these files or not. If you have google earth you can open the .gpx file with google earth and see the route and the roads.

Sorry, can't remember where we stopped on this ride. It may have been a little mom & pop restaurant in Bedias.

But if you want a really good burger in that area, try the Citgo gas station / country store in Shiro. This is one of those little stores you will find only in the middle of nowhere. They sell a little of everything, from bailing wire to fishing lures. But in the back they have a grill and will cook one of the best burgers I have ever had. It's a nice dualsport ride up there, too.

It was some little white building on the East side of Hwy 90 just South of town. I could have sworn I took pics of it :scratch: The owner was pretty interesting... She came out and checked out all our bikes.

+1 on what Desmo said about the burgers at the Citgo there in Shiro :drool:
