Well I sold the Voyager, the wife is none to happy as she has no love of the Black Wing nor the Old Yeller (76 Wing). I think she likes the big road bikes, I want a semi D/S. I took her to see the Uly! She said, from 50 feet away"It's ugly" "But Baby!" I says, It has a great seat, She says "Its ugly" with a bit more convection. "Try the seat" well being that they are tall and I am tip toe to hold it up, she climbs up with a bit of Oh $617 thrown in, sits there all of 5 seconds( I think I stretched the time) climbs off and says "I don't like it" Should have quit at "It's ugly" so any way I came across the Tiger, I showed her a picture and she seemed as about enthused as she was with the Uly.
I should her the Caspian Blue with the panniers and tour pack, she did not seemed impressed and mention I was to old to be riding in the dirt. But it's for dirt roads! "Where are you going to find dirt roads?" she says, I said "Thata way":haha: I showed her a Tiger, fully loaded on Cycle Trader, she says it is ugly. It was the black one in Midlothian, I guess I shold have gone with the silver one in Houston:shrug:
I want to go beyond the road, I want to go to the North Rim, you can do it on a big road bike , it won't be much fun but it could be done. She does not see it as a dirt road machine, she thinks riding on dirt roads is to dangerous?
Well thats because we went down some on the Voyager (flexing front fork 1200 lb street tire inline four) not made for that type duty.

What I need is some "talking points" I am the guy spending 90% seat time on it. So speak up you D/S types, any two uppers, how is the back pillion on these beast? It is a road bike that can go down dirt roads, she sees just a dirt bike.
I do like the big road bikes, heck if it has two wheels then I would not reject it just off hand, I find sumpin good to say.:rider:

Bring her to the house and take her on a two up ride on the Strom. I'll put the bags and top case on it. Point out the whole thing costs less, is more versatile (thereby requiring only one bike), and cooler than a full on touring bike or bucks up cruiser. Then point out the Strom is just a Suzuki version of the Tiger.

What's she got against long legs and short skirts? haha....
The V is a great machine, I would take him up on the test ride with the wife offer.

............... and mention I was to old to be riding in the dirt.

Never!!!!!! Not as long as you can swing a leg over the bike. I'm 65 and ride DS, hare scrambles, & enduros all the time. Just go for it. :rider:

I had an 01 Tiger and I agree with her, it is an ugly bike. But I do love the triple, and the bike really cleans the sweepers. Tons of power, too much top end and a riding position that won't wear you out.

But, I did get it off road a few times. Heavy, so is terrible in mud. It is top heavy, and with a 6+ gallon tank, can be a lot to handle if you have to drop down the low side to catch it. And I believe the bike is not setup to do well offroad, suspension wise. But it is great on hard dirt/rock roads, pastures, rocky creek beds. Just not the kind of bike I'd take off enduro style.

And, for whatever reason, Triumph prices are soft around here, so you can pick one up for a song making it an excellent value.

I love it, but only a face a mother could love.

For two up and dirt road riding I would get a BMW GS or a Strom.
