It's with heavy heart that I must share the news that Bonnie Smith was killed yesterday in an automobile accident. Bonnie was driving her car on Hwy 69 south of Greenville and pulled out to pass directly into the path of an oncoming SUV. She died instantly. Two people in the SUV are in critical condtion.

Debbie and I met Bonnie through David Davis, a member of this forum, who is her best friend. David and Bonnie have been riding together for the last four years and Bonnie's latest ride was an FJR 1300.

Bonnie leaves behind two sons, ages 9 and 13. She was a strong woman who loved her boys and was a wonderful friend to many. She will be sorely missed.

Bonnie's mother, knowing her daughter's love of motorcycles, has requested a motorcycle escort from the funeral home to the cemetery. David Davis will ride Bonnie's FJR with Bonnie's distinct helmet riding pillion. Any TWT members who want to be a part of this event are welcome to show their respect and add to the bike parade in her honor.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 am at Peter's Funeral Home which is located at 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd in Greenville. This is Hwy 69 North of I-30. The ride to the cemetery will follow the ceremony. Please join us if you can, and if not please remember her friends and family in your prayers.

Bonnie touched my life in so many ways. I spent most of my free time with her and rarely went anywhere without her. My life has changed forever.

Bonnie was loved by all who knew her. I will miss her.:(

I hate like **** for this to be my first post here.

After getting to know David on the phone recently, I was to meet him for the first time this Saturday to get tires on my bike. Now it will be under much sadder circumstances.

David, with your permission, I'd be happy to post the funeral info on volusiariders.com, in case anyone there would like to join the procession and pay their respects. I noticed a recent thread you had posted about bikes in a funeral procession, and it's a weird twist of fate that brings this about now. For what it's worth, and for my own some day, I'd like to have as many bikes there as possible.

If you agree, and don't mind having a bunch of "friends you haven't met yet" at the service, let me know. Personally, I'm feeling a bit cheated out of the opportunity to get to know Bonnie.

Hang in there, man. It seems that riders have a way of pulling together in tough times, so don't be afraid to lean on us any time you feel the need.

David, sorry for your loss. Prayers for her boys. I was blessed to meet her at the Plano meet and greet a few months back. Life is fleeting.

I would like to express my condolences for the loss of someone who obviously was a very fine lady and mother. It will be hard for the kids to understand, but there is a reason for everything that happens. David, you and the kids are in my prayers.

I'm sorry this is late but, the arrangements have kept me occupied. The funeral is in a few hours (10 am) and Alan had told me about some of these posts so, I wanted everyone to know that there will be a lot of bikes there and we welcome more.

I will be riding her bike in the lead, with her helmet on the back, followed by another of her good friends riding my bike. The Lone Star Dragonslayers club will follow, then Maxim Riders Club, then the Marines Brotherhood, and I would love to see the Volusia Riders, and anyone else who would like to join the celebration.
Bonnie was loved by all who knew her, and I would love to see the city of Greenville shut down for the line of vehicles rolling out. 2 or 4 wheeled.

I'm sorry this is late notice.

Thanks to everyone for your support.
