I installed a SJL Radar Screamer speaker for use with my Escort Radar detector I bought a couple of weeks ago. The Escort 8500 radar detector works quite well but when on the motorcycle it does not produce enough audible sound to warn you at highway speeds. After looking at everthing that was available and being a believer in the KISS principle I opted for the Screamer speaker device. Went for a extended ride this morning and found that the money was well spent on it. I could hear the radar warning perfectly at speeds way over the speed limits wearing a helmet and ear plugs. It was very simple to install and the parts are of good quality and the instructions provided were clear and consise. I heartly recommend the unit for helping you avoid the dreaded police radar and lazer guns.

Not that anyone here would need a radar detector. I'm sure we all have them simply as tools to help verify that the local law enforcement officers have been provided with radar guns.

simply a means of entertaining ones self while riding .......keeps you alert and your mind occupied sort of

Just watch the amount of water that gets into the pizo speaker ... if it ingests too much rain, it'll quit working on ya.

I used a screamer on my old GSX-R and Busa, but with the ST I went ahead and wired everything into an intercom. Still ... it's a pretty worthy tool. (think I still have mine stashed away in the toolbox in case there's ever a need for it again)

+1
I had mine mounted under the fairing accent panel and it still managed to get some water in it. It can take a bit, just not a soaking.

I never found a cruising speed that I couldn't hear the alerts at. :ponder: :uhoh:
