Howdy,
:tab Yes, this may strike you as odd, but hear me out. We have recently passed the 3000 user mark. We are averaging 100 new users per month. At the rate new people are joining, that tight knit feel of community will begin to be stretched thin. Those that are new to the site are likely to miss much of the nuances in posts by those that have been here since the beginning. The Off-Topic section has really come alive and we all know what fertile ground that can be for dischord among users. Anyway, for those of you that pray, here is what I would ask you to focus on.
That TWT memebers would carry on their discussions with gentleness and respect towards other members so that we might maintain a sense of peace on the site.
That TWT members would remember to give other posters the benefit of the doubt when they think they are being insulted, and even if they are being insulted, that they not react in anger, with rash words or stinging sarcasm.
That this community might continue to grow without losing the sense that ALL of our members are important.
That when members of the community are in need, the others will rise up to help them as they are able.
That myself and the other moderators will exercise our responsibilities with wisdom and diligence.
That this site might continue to grow and to serve the riders of Texas and anywhere else if they find their way here.
And finally, that the spammers will all suffer repeated hard drive failures...

On board big time with this request. Good communities, where all the members feel welcome and respected and return the same to others, are hard to find and nurture, especially as they grow. TWT is an online oasis. Thanks for all your hard work, Scott, and to all who read this and provide positive contributions to the board and its members.
Im with ya man , and all the people ive told about this site have all been cautioned , if ya want someplace to vent , rant and cuss ,,,,, this aint it ! We , Deb and I , enjoy reading about the community and love feeling like there is a place where Christian values still exist . Where else on the web can you let your kids read other peoples posts without worrying about them learning new cuss words ? They learn enough bad words from me ! Hope the site and all members remain as thoughtful as they are now ! Casey and Debbie

This is an easy one to comply with. Glad to say a prayer for all that.

Doesn't strike me as even a little bit odd, Scott.
This is a terrific forum and you do a wonderful job with it. I assume it's your influence that keeps even the off-topic posts from getting distastefully rambunctious.
I think we're all with you on the request.

Consider it added to my weekely prayer list.
Thanks for all the work you do on the site. I realize that sometimes it might seem like a thankless job but this site DOES make a difference in a lot of TWT member's lives.
Yesterday our sermon was about being a real friend to others. The question was asked - "How many members can a church have"? The answer is simple, we always have room for one more. I think that can be said with the website as well. ;-)
A solution to a growing website/members might be individual sections grouped by cities much like sport-touring.net does w/ different regions thru the US. Just an idea.....

You are a big reason that this site is as good as it is. I do not even live in Texas but I love the closeness of the TWT community so I hang out and read. I wish I did live in Texas so that I could attend your bike nights and RTE's. Keep up the good work.
RIGHT ON, Scott.
In our hard nozed and often brutal, selfish, and insensitive world, an OASIS of gentlity and comradarie is refreshing, needed, and welcome.

This place is a great example of respect and caring. If TM had ever compromised, this would not have happened.
I like it a lot....:pilot: (Dumb, or was it Dumber?)

:tab Yeah, I have been thinking about this lately. Seems I have really had to step up some of the admin stuff because people seem edgier than usual. It almost seems like some people are just looking for confrontations rather than actual discussions  Perhaps some of them are not getting to take advantage of the awesome weather of late? :-P

A search on my previous posts on this subject will probably reference what happened to Glock Talk as it became more well known. Eric still has to put his foot down now and then, especially on the ones that tend to push the boundaries, but it's still not like the little family we were back in 2000.
The same thing will happen here as it continues to grow. The upside here for TWT is that you (Scott) have run this with a much firmer hand than Eric did in the early days so the expections are very clear as to how the visitors to the site should act, and those of us who have been around for a while and like the format will also be the "peer pressure" to help keep it running that way.

Amen.
Yeah, it's impossible to welcome every newcomer anymore...
And as to the edginess, I'm going to do my part. I'm going on vacation next week, so that's at least 4 whole days without internet access :uhoh: :twitch:
Hopefully I'll come back calmer...

Yeah, it's impossible to welcome every newcomer anymore...
It's sad, but it's true.
I liked knowing everyone that came and went, sometimes getting to put real names and faces with forum names. Now I'm lucky if I can keep even a few names and bikes straight in my head...
I don't get to read even half of what I used to thanks to work...
...and there are soooo many bikes I haven't gotten to ride yet!

Done! This is not an odd request at all. In fact, I am greatfull that you would make such a request. It is refreshing to find a site that still values the important things in life and not afraid to say it. That is why I joined.
It is nice to be able to sit infront of my computer and not be worried about what my 7 year old daughter read when she wants to see what mom is doing!
Thank you for keeping the faith and not being afraid to share it!
