AMA Superbike Doubleheader + the opening of the MotoGP season. I'm not sure which I'm more giddy about.

I think AMA might actually be a closer contest than MotoGP. Gobert won a race at Fontana last year, and he was looking good at Daytona. Mladin won't have to worry about tires so much and Yates will be looking to make up for his near-podium finish at Daytona. Duhamel, BBostrom, and Roberts have the best bikes, it seems. And never count Eboz out.

I think MotoGP will still be the Rossi show, though he might have to work a little harder at it. Barros will probably be his main competition, maybe Biaggi. I'd love to see Edwards up there, and he should be familiar with Suzuka from all the 8-hours he's run, but the Cube has to prove itself. And nothing would please me more than to see Nicky up on the podium (not because I love him, but just because he's an AMA guy), but if that happens once this year, it will be a pleasant surprise.

Can't wait. :chug:

Ditto! Man, I am so psyched. Formula 1 AND MotoGP in one weekend. It just don't get much better.

Howdy,

:tab Yeah I'm pretty pumped about this weekend. I just wish I was one of the fortunate masses that will be attending some of these races!! We're so isolated here :( I can't afford to take time off work and travel across the country to see a race, no matter how bad I want to go.

:tab I'm rooting for Colin! He's my homie. After that... Bayliss, just because he is such a nice guy hehe. I just hope these guys aren't "also rans" the first season out. Rossi is fun to watch no doubt, but he just has that smug cocky attitude that rubs me the wrong way. Seeing Nicky do well would also make me happy. It is gonna be crowded in the front of the pack!

:tab Last night I watched the WSB races on replay. Greg White is a nice guy and all, but the new TWT format is kind of lame. Having the babes stand around for him to stare at is kind of funny. When he talks with them he stares right at their chests hehe. The races were cool. It is kind of lame that only Ducs are doing anything. The Suzuki hung with them early in the race but then dropped off. It is funny that they showed more of the racing for third, fourth and fifth because the factory Ducs were gone. Xaus looked good. If he can keep it up on two wheels, it might make for an interesting championship battle between teammates. It was cool to see Corser running the Foggy bike so well. I wish there were more private teams that could compete with the factory guys. I'm a motorcycle race junkie, so I'll watch WSB anyway. It still beats NASCAR.

Adios,

I have always loved watching Moto GP. But, with Colin and Nicky and Troy B. in the fray, I CAN'T WAIT!

As far as AMA goes, I wonder if Yates can rebound from Daytona!

Oh good grief, I forgot all about AMA  Let me see... There are so many to choose from. Gobert rocks but he's a bit of a putz. Always whining about something. Mladin is a good guy, if he can make a comeback from last year that would make for some exciting stuff. The Boz Bros? E Boz rocks but the heads at Kawa need to get him on something newer, sheesh! Ben could be the man. He's a nice guy, doesn't talk smack, just rides his *** off. Have always liked him in the WSB stuff. Tommy Hayden is just the same (diff class I know). And then there is the sasquatch himself, Mr. Yates. Had a bit of a dissapointment at Daytona, but that is just one race. He was cruising there for a while. He's not out yet! But for some reason I've been partial to Miguel. I'd like to see him get in the groove this season and give the young pups a run for their money!!

Adios,

This year I'm going to go to an AMA Superbike race. I guess my most likely are either Pike's Peak or Barber (AL), as they're closest, though obviously I'd love to do Laguna Seca. Or Road America or Brainerd would be neat, too, eh? Or Mid-Ohio, or VIR...

I'm going to Laguna Seca. I'm actually going to corner work the race on Saturday/Sunday!

How cool! I assume you have cornerworker experience? Did you work those races there last year?

In other news, Melandri is out of MotoGP this weekend and possibly many more. :| From http://www.amasuperbike.com/2003-Apr/030404d.htm:

Melandri's morning crash brought out the red flag to allow helicopter access to the fallen racer. The 2002 GP250 world champion suffered a double fracture in the right ankle, a chipped femur, and a broken nose. Doctors reported that additional surgery will be decided 48 hours of observation.

Data taken from Melandri's on-board computer showed that he was traveling just under 200 kph when he high-sided, and the team reported that the Yamaha hit Meladri after he was pitched off.

Ouch! Man, I hope he's all right. That must have been an ugly thing to watch happen, high-side at 120mph, then have the bike hit you. None of that for me, thank you.

BRD,

I've actually got Endurance Race experience with CMRA and I've corner worked for both CMRA and RPM.

I can't wait to work Laguna Seca! They pay to work the race and you get full access (paddock, track, etc.).
