Howdy,
I plan to be there along with several other riders from Austin. We plan to meet at the Scooter's Coffee Shop on Far West Blvd. in Austin at 7:30am. We would enjoy having other riders join us for the scenic route.
We plan to take 290 to Elgin, then take 696 from there passing through Lexington then west of Lake Somerville on 1697. The route is exactly 100 miles based on the GPS map.
The weather should be cooler by then too...

Initially I had a ride planned for this morning heading out to Fayetteville. I was going to see if you wanted to meet over there...
I changed the route (shortened it to only 200 mi round trip) so we weren't going that far out. Apparently Mother Nature didn't sense anything had changed, so we all got soaked just getting to the start of the ride.

I saw that this morning and got one of those strange
looks from my wife when I told her I was thinking about
riding out to Fayetville to meet a young lady for lunch ;-)
Then I reminded her of the Hall of fame goodies and she
just laughed and said no girl in her right mind would ride
in the rain to buy me lunch :lol2:
I assumed she was correct again :trust: , and took her
out to the Grist Mill instead.

To quote some members here..."It's not the ride, it's the Pie!" Groups tend to form about a week out, meet somewhere, pick a route leader (usually the last one to show up FYI), and ride to pie. Waddle out to the bikes after is the norm.:trust:

You can ride with a group there if you need/want, you can ride out afterwards with a group (they tend to form during lunch and in the parking lot).
It's really an easy-going day, and you just do whatever you'd like!

How is it going, KOP? I can probably meet up with you and then we can try to meet up with the main Austin group leaving out of Scooter's Coffee Shop. The alternative would be to have a "North Austin" group meetup and make it to Brenham from there. However, it sounds like the Austin group has a route all planned out. I'm cool with either option.

Good to hear from you, Roy. I'm now thinking that it may be better to have a "North Austin" group as we will probably have to get up a little earlier to make the Austin group meet at 730AM. I'm open to both, but if I can sleep in a little longer that's not a bad thing.

Probably, but too soon to say when & where it will be. Keep an eye out here and also in the "Upcoming Rides, Trips, and Events" section for something Houston-specific in the next week or so.
This looks like a good time for me to get back into playing in the streets with yall. It'll give me a chance to get outta town on the Katana I just bought for a daily ride. I may even have to buy budzrex a hunka pie for weaseling out on the last ride he set up.

Chris and I just might make this one: 1) It's close to home AND our youngest just moved there - a "convenient" potty break!! ;-)
I can just picture it now: 10-20 motorcycles pulling up into her nice, tame, quiet apartment complex - all of us heading (full gear) to her apartment - What an item for gossip the residents would have! :eek2: :trust:

Let's meet at the Round Rock Golden Chick parking lot by 8:00. This gives Bernardo 30 minutes more to sleep ;-) This location is about 1 block east of IH35 on 620. The parking lot is large and flat.
Stands up by 8:15. We should be able to meet with Red Brown's group in Lexington around 9:30 and ride into Brenham together.
Buddy, it would be great to meet up on the trail.

Yeah should be very easy, well maintained dirt county roads should be plentiful up that way. I need to look at the maps and see what would look fun. Do you have any ideas? I know most of the ones from north of Montgomery west to highway 6 but after that I need to study the maps.

Why don't you two try to hook up and make out a meeting spot. I am sure some others will join you or just show up. Post it and they will come. ;-) :rider:
Hmmmm.....
Is there a Starbucks or something on the NW side of Houston, 290 outside of the Beltway maybe?
I don't really know any routes other than slabbing it on 290. Maybe someone else can lead??

Yes, should be great weather. Put me down as a probably.
Will more than likely ride with the DS group from NW Houston. Any plans yet Bryan? I have and old friend who has a big farm just north of Brenham. I could probably talk him into letting us ride around his property after pie. We used to have a neat dirt (MX) track there but it has been a while since it was maintained. Let me know if any interest in going there.
Steve
Yeah I will check it out, were do you want to meet? Can you find those dirt roads to Brenham? Or should we just wing it?

Hey Dolan
Are you hitting the backroads? I'd like to ride along -- I'm not sure if I can go yet!
Let me know who you're riding with
Scott
:rider: :eat:
Yeah some kinda backroads, I have a message to Desmo to see where we should meet. I hope to know more by tomorrow.

I say for DS riders we meet in Montgomery and head toward Brenham. I made a route that is 71 miles to Brenham, I know some of the roads are dirt from north of Montgomery then west to Navasota. After that, we will be exploring because I have not ventured out that way. So here is the route what do you all think? Anyone have any sugestions?

I'm trying to pull this off! I can't ope the file you posted? By pulling up Yahoo maps it looks like 105 is a good route. I'll look at some other maps as well. What time are you meeting and where?:rider:
Budzrex and I are meeting at the Lockhart courthouse tomorrow for the ride to Brenham. We plan on leaving from there at 8:45. If anyone would like to join us, come on down, the more the merrier. The courhouse is at 110 South Main Street. Below is a map for directions.

Use google earth and open the .gpx file it will show the route. If you don't have google earth you can download it for free, and it will open .gpx files.
I will post up what time to meet tonight, I am still waiting to hear back from Desmo.

Hey Brain, not a dirt road but one of my favorites, William Penn rd or CR 93 off of 105 which connects to 390 at that intersection make a right and it will take you down into Independence and 50. Roads of TX (109 and 125) doesn't show it well but there are plenty of dirt roads up there as well

Why are you waiting to hear from me?!!!
I cannot see your map, so I have no idea where we are going. Just post a time/place and I will be there. Allow extra time if any of the dirt roads are unknown (may be dead end, gated, etc.).
Call me tonight if necessary.

Get with the program:lol2: what do you mean, you don't have google earth? Then you could see the route or just get rid of that lowrance and get you a garmin.:duck: It looks like the route is gate free, it is a 71 mile route so why don't we meet in Montgomery at the Texaco(corner of 149 and 105) at 9am.

I will have to check it out, you going for pie larry?
Edit: I just looked at my route and I already have CR-93 in the route, so it looks like I picked at least one good road. Not bad for wingin' it.

I want to go too! But would prefer not to ride out there alone. So if anyone who's going from the 290/1960 area wants some company along the way, call me at 832-814-2975. I'll be up late.
Thanks.

I think I'm gonna make it. Because I'm taking off all the time on the bike... and because I'm going to continue on to the opening weekend of the Texas Renaissance festival in Plantersville.. I better at least go have breakfast with the wife... so I won't be able to make any of the early group departures.
Should be there though after breakfast.. see ya'll there!
Anyone that wants to continue on to the Renaissance festival in Plantersville.. since this is the opening weekend.. if you buy your tickets in advance at Albertson's, HEB, etc.. the tickets are discounted to $11 instead of $21 for opening weekend. Camping is only $10, so I'll probably just spend the night there and head back Sunday morning if anyone is game.

Not going to make it. :(
Allergies have been intense this week and cannot get control of sinuses without using "drowsy drugs".
I'll make the next one if I have to walk.

not going to make it afterall... too rushed to having breakfast with the wife.. then trying to make Brenham by 11am.
Still going to the Renaissance though and Brenham is on the way.. so if there are any stragglers still lingering.. I'll stop off. Otherwise, catch ya'll at the next one. Ride safe.
Well, I'm going to get ready and head out shortly. Hopefully I'll see someone on the road. I'll probably be slabbing it on 290 most of the way, unless I start feeling a bit frisky then who knows.
