One of my good friends mother has discovered a lump in her neck. Tests are not totally through yet, but its really looking like cancer and its not looking good.

Whatever it is, is wrapped around her Jugular and Carotid arteries.

If you would please pray for her and the family it would be greatly appreciated.

I spent 2+ yrs as Psychology Consultant on an Oncology (Cancer treatment) staff at a hospital early in my retirement. From what is said in this tread, this could be quite serious. Having other vital anatomic features immediately proxmal to tumors can actually prevent surgical removal of the tumors which more or less ties the hands of the treatment team to very carefully aimed and regulated radiation and chemotherapy.

Any time the treatment team is limited in any way, it's not good at all. For her sake, let's all pray the treatment team actually is not handicapped by the location, size, and near tissue involvement of the tumor(s).

+1 Matt, these folks have been hit hard.

Cindy was taken to the hospital today and spent the entire day waiting in ER. I think they finally got her admitted late this afternoon.
I'm not sure exactly but I think they are contemplating putting in a Trach and then treating her where she's at vs taking her to MD Anderson in Houston. I think they question her ability to make the trip in her condition.

Please keep the prayers coming. I know they are greatly appreciated.

I got some more bad news about it last night, While unconfirmed with immediate family, some extended family told me they had found cancer in her lungs with the testing yesterday.

Also, her son told me they thought cancer was in stage 3 or 4 already.

***UPDATE***
I just talked to Danny, Cindys son. (he happens to work with me). This morning she went in for a biopsy, and they found NO CANCER CELLS. They dont know what it is yet, but its not cancer. They plan on another, deeper biopsy soon, but so far, looks like a miracle. Thank you all for the prayers, and please continue to do so.

Talked with Pamela (Texannurse), Cindy's neice, last night and got a bit more info.

The biopsy they did was not of the growth but of the surrounding tissue. The results of that didn't clearly point to cancer, but they have no idea what it is.
The Dr's are not wanting to mess with the growth so I really don't know what the next step is.

To get into MD Anderson they have to have a biopsy of the growth itself.

Please continue the prayer, she's in no way, shape or form out of the woods.

By not cancer, do they mean it is a tumor of some sort but simply benign?

I'm not really sure.
There's something in there causing trouble, but it doesn't sound like they know what it is.

your summary sounds about like what I would say.

They looked at the growth (they still don't know what it is) but is getting SMALLER!!!

This is proof that prayer works! Thank you all for your prayers I know they played a part in this!

Please continue to pray for her as she's not out of the woods yet, but it looks to be getting closer!

A message from Cindy, via her son

"I want to thank you all for the prayers.
Everything is going good, I went to see the ENT.
The ENT was amazed at my progress, she said if she hadn't seen it her self she wouldn't have believed it. They can't explain why the mass has shrank so much. In a couple of weeks I get a catscan to see how much progress has been made. I would like to thank you all so much it truely has been an answer to prayers.

thank you so much
Cindy"
