All I have to say is that you guys missed it. What a time.. definately worth the time and effort going to this event.

We started out leaving late Tuesday evening so we could travel the almost 1500 miles out to Caliente Nevada with out being rushed to get there for the Thursday nite riders meeting and rally road book class.

I wasn't really looking forward to the drive but with all the rain I have never seen the desert so beautiful.

Well after spending the nite in Ozona. we headed out for a 16 hour drive to Kingman AZ for the next night. We ended up hitting Caliente around noon Thursday.

We were the first to pitch our tents into the bivoac and set up Casa de Texas. We had by far the biggest tent. Almost 6' of head room and big enough to sleep 8 (even though it was just Steve and I)

Everyone started showing up shortly after we got our tent up.With about 80 riders the bivoac got very crowded. At nite you could hear everyone snooring. It was fine if you were the one sleeping and snooring up anoying and quite comical when listening to everyone.

Scot Harden was already there in his sweet KTM adventure ride with all the Dakar Rally bikes. These were the real deal. used in Last years Dakar and now used by Kellon Welloch and Chris Blais as practice bikes. Chris said they were stripped of the rally engines and good suspension.

OLN was there documenting the rally for the "Best In The Desert" series. It should be on OLN in about 6 weeks.

each morning started with a riders meeting to go over the daily ride.

Sorry I don't have time to get into details yet, still trying to get my feet back on the ground.....But....

This was not a race but it did have two special timed sections ( Read "Races")
The first one Ken got second and I got eighth, the next day Ken got fourth and I got eighth again.....Not too bad for about eighty riders...

The pros were disqualified.....

We were running so hard I was getting a little over 20 MPG....

Stories and pics to follow, maybe by this weekend....
