Recommendations appreciated. Going to Asheville NC via N AR and N TN to Nashville then SE to below Knoxville to approach Asheville via Deals Gap. Leave tomorrow. Any roads that I must not miss on a sport bike. Any must-ride roads around Ahheville. Regards, John

I used to live in East TN, so I have a few suggestions.
Personally, I'd avoid Deal's Gap. I don't like the place and find it too crowded with posers.
Here are a few ideas for roads that are a bit less known. :thumb: I like going from Roan, NC through Roan Mtn State Park, looping down 226 and back up. Stop in and hike up to Jane Bald Mtn for a magnificent view, if you've got time (only takes a couple hours.) Little roads through Altamont (sp?), banner elk, boone, sugar mountain...
If you make it to Sugar Mtn, stop in at Fred's Merchantile...a neat general store.
Now, i haven't been on these roads in several years, but I remember them being a scream. It's kind of hard to go wrong in that area. The Blue ridge pkw runs through it, but again, too crowded for me and I HATE getting stuck behind giant RV's. Just go into the area, get a local map and follow the squiggly lines...and have a blast.
Shiny side up! :sun:

Thanks. We plan to ride the Asheville area Tuesday through Friday. I will have time to make the roads you mention. I will try Deals Gap on the way over as it will be Monday and Bear season is over. Last time I was there a bear running at full tilt missed me by inches. He had better brakes than I. I think the dogs were chasing him and caused him to break cover at a full run in the middle of the day. Regards, John
