Since I am a new father now, with two rides and not enough time for either, I was just wondering what the make up of the rest of the group was. Are you single or married, kids or no.
This is not a marketing thing , I am just curious. Mostly how many of you out there have kids and can still manage to get away every now and then (yeah Paul, you too)
Thanks

Married, 5 kids, ages 18,16,15,13,12. All still living at home (yes-4 teenagers in one house!) I didn't see an exact match since they are over 10 but still not free to roam. I did get a nice 200 miler in today though. 8-)

Yeah, uummm..... I have to beg and plead and be real nice to get any riding time in. I work 50-65 hours a week along with having 2 and 4 year olds. Hopefully I can get out to 3090 today sometime. This is a rare treat. I need to mow the grass, play with the kids, and fix the myriad things around the house. But instead I'm going riding. . I HAVE to let my wife get out of the house first though. She has to ride her bike too. She has a Trek OCLV 5200. Yeah, I see the irony, her bicycle costs WAY more than my motorcycle does.

That could be the beginnings of a new discussion section here. What do you think, Scott? ;-)
And yes, I'm single too. I'd like to meet a woman with her own bike, but I'd also be quite happy to have one snuggle up behind me on the passenger seat! :-D

Oh geez... We are NOT going to start a dating service here ;-) There are plenty of other good websites for that
Hey Paul M, does your back hurt? I think all of me is sore! After dropping the bike four times, wrestling it around on the back roads, etc,... I can hardly move tonight  How pathetic! Maybe I really should start working out :scratch Or... maybe just go grab a beer from the fridge
Adios,

Not ones that are motorcycle oriented! C'mon Scott, I live in a veritable wasteland of small town USA, I can't meet a woman here who wants to ride anything besides a horse....and, I ain't going down THAT road! Just think, we could have rally's/weddings/divorces, all at the same time!

Shortline, maybe we should just make sure all the single people have pics posted in their profile (and ones without helmets on) or Member Gallery posts and do it discretely through PMs....

Can I assume you dropped the GS a few more times after I helped pull you out on Saturday? Boy, you're gonna hurt yourself doin' that! ;-)
Sorry, Andy - we should stop hijacking your thread now. :-)

The time you helped me out was the fourth time ;-) No more drops after that!
I will be ordering a set of knobbies but won't get them mounted until after the Colorado trip. What a pain! I really need a second bike but Beth just doesn't seem to agree :scratch

Regarding this poll....I choose the last option with a reference to second choice. I do not have any issues if I want to go out in the bike...Wife understands that is something I enjoy a lot...!!! Even if is going Friday or Saturday nights very late to play "dodge ball" with all the drunk drivers out in the City. (it helps to keep your evasive maneouvers sharp.!!) Altough and to be honest.....I prefer to spend more time with my wife than riding...!!!
I use the bike most for commuting to job and lately I have stop doing that....!!!!!! I tryed to get her into riding with me as a passenger but she's very nervous and do not enjoy the rides at all... :-? So far she has been out with me only a couple of times. First trip, a ride to La Porte for breakfast and the second trip to Hamburger Wensday at Angleton. In her first ride to La Porte she was holding very hard to my chest.!! It was very funny...!!!! Also after a heart surgery 3 years ago her health has not being very good and I try not to expose her to any dangers...!!!!

Instead of posting a reply, I posted a new topic...OPPS. See what happens when you flame a woman. LOL
My luck with women has been so bad I will stick with bikes for a while. I already have one in the bedroom!
When I tell a women that I have 19 motorcycles she has to pick her chin up off the floor. You can't ride them all at once is always a welcome line. I have very few pair of shoes. How many women do you know that have less than 20 pairs? You can't wear them at the same time. LOL...

Single....and looking. Can anyone hook a brother up?
Actually, I do know an attractive single woman who loves to ride (my wife's best friend) but she lives in Austin, and I don't think she's gonna go for that "long-distance relationship" thing!
Ever consider living somewhere besides the middle of nowhere?

And, re: the poll: I'm married, no kids, wife will pack but not ride her own, and I'm free to roam whenever and wherever. Now, if only the world would quit making all these demands on my time!

Why yes I have! There is a good chance I will be moving to either San Antonio, or Houston in the next year or so, as my company expands. Though, the middle of nowhere has it's advantages, just think of the money I'm saving on Starbucks coffee, movies, Taco Bell, beer (dry county, no bars) gas (Can be across town in 2 minutes) etc....come to think of it, I kinda hate it here!

I'm actually pretty fond of small towns. After living in Austin for years, back when it was a small city, I lived in Temple from '87 to '99. Temple was just about the right size for me. No real traffic, lower rent than the big cities, good riding roads all around... Not much nightlife for a single guy who doesn't drink, but I managed to create my own, and that was fun.
Only reason I moved is that I married an Austin woman, who didn't want to leave Austin. It was culture shock coming back to the city, after so many years away. Obscene real estate prices; urban sprawl and pollution; huge cookie-cutter neighborhoods as far as the eye can see; traffic jams every morning, noon and night... It was like "Who are all these idiots, and what are they doing in my town?"
I'm still not used to it, but I'm slowly adjusting. I only road-rage every other day, now, instead of every hour, on the hour, and I've accepted the fact that we'll never see the Capitol Building again, because our city council allowed developers to build skyscrapers on every vacant lot in town. I still miss the old hangouts, and all my riding friends who've moved on, in one way or another, and the great riding roads that have been swallowed up in Austin's insatiable cancerous growth.
Other than that, it's great to be back!
Re: your pending move: hope for SA. No offense to the Houstonians here - I'm sure you're all very nice folks - but I wouldn't have H-town on a bet! San Antonio, on the other hand, is almost livable, and within easy reach of the Hill Country and great riding!
Good luck!

Yeah the only really nice thing about Houston is that at least it's not Beaumont/Port Arthur. :)
And yeah I can relate to what's happened to Austin. That's what happens when a city wins the national "best place to live" and "cheapest cost of living" notariety that Austin used to get (still does to some degree).
I was born there back when dad worked at bergstrom when it was still a big AF base, I'll be livin back down there someday.

Same here ... Cass and I have lived together for just about 2 years now. Not married, but definitely committed. Great thing is we both ride, either together on the same bike, or on our own bikes. I've also done solo trips by myself, or we'll do bike trips together. **** ... when I wrecked 18 months ago, she was the one telling me I needed to go by another bike ASAP. How can I refuse! :)

exactly!
no need to say you don't need or want a significant other because they don't like you riding! find someone who enjoys riding! I didn't ride when i met monte, I had always wanted to, just never had the oportunity, but now.....he can't keep me off the bike!!
