All in all, three days of great riding. Just wanted to post and say thanks for all of the great advice members of this board gave me while I was planning this little trip. Scott, we stayed at the Y.O. Ranch while in Kerrville and it was really nice. Thanks for the tip.

Road updates? The construction is still going on on FM 337 between Leakey and Camp Wood. This consists of several bridges that are being worked on. You basically have to go across some single-lane, gravelled sections that aren't any longer than about a quarter-mile each. Also, FM 336 has some construction going on. They're replacing a low water crossing. Unfortunately, we showed up right as they were spraying some packed dirt with the water truck. If anyone's ever contemplated going mudding on a 700 pound Victory Sportcruiser...don't. But she did what all great bikes do. Got me through way more than she was ever designed to do and did it without killing me while making me look like I'm a better rider than I am.

The food? Mama Chole's and the OST were excellent. If I lived down there I'd weigh three hundred pounds.

And a word on safety. On FM 335, I had a deer run across the road right in front of me. Applied the brakes and started downshifting and it wouldn't have been a problem except the little ******* decided to change course in the middle of the lane and started running right in front of me. Got a forty mile per hour look at a deer's *** that won't go away when I close my eyes. Also had another one cross right in front of me up by Blanco. So when people tell you to watch for deer in this area, they're not kidding.

Speed limits. Some of you may know from another post that I wouldn't shed a tear if they raised the speed limits on major highways in rural areas. However, that in no way applies to this area. Any motorcyclist who speeds along any of the roads in this area is a *******. For one thing, there are homes and small towns all over the place. We saw many kids playing, and as far as I'm concerned kids and speed don't mix. The speed limits in that area are very realistic. I'm a competent rider and I like to go fast. But at no time did I feel like exceeding the posted limit and I still had a fun and challenging ride. I realize that opinions will vary on this, but that's my opinion and it ought to be yours. :-D

Equipment. We tested the Collett communicators for the first time on this ride. The voice activation is great, the speakers are loud and clear, even with earplugs in. The range is good out to about 3/4 of a mile without loss of signal strength. All in all, a great product.

Okay, I'm finally done talking. Thanks again for all of the advice, it made for a great trip.
