Went to OKC bmw last week to buy a bike they had listed on there web site. I walked and walked around and looking at new bike before I had to ask for assistance. Not only was I not asked if I needed help I felt like I was being ignored, as no one would even look at me.
I walked up to one employee and said "I want to purchase the 2005 K1200LT you have listed on your site." Cash in hand!!
This was site unseen also with no response except that bike on ebay and has met the reserve.
The reserve was 15,000 and i was willing to pay 16,350 CASH and told them this and their response was you can bid on it.
I bid on it just like they gave me service. NEVER. The bike sold for right at 15500 which is well under nada for the bike, mile and access. Guess the Okeis just don't need the money.
Well with the excellent service I got just looking I think LoneStarCycle just might have won my business. All great guys and more than willing to answer questions even after hours.
Good Bye Oklahoma if I have to go back again it will be too soon.
BMW Austin ROCKS. Though the exterier looks a little rough the rest is top notch. Have them looking for me a bike right now.
Just incase you ever think of going north for a bike, DON"T DO IT, at least not in Oklahoma.
I would have had them fax me a purchase order and placed a deposit.

You know, I think you learned about the dealership the easy way, before you had to depend on them for something. You dodged a bullet, in my humble opinion. :thpt:
So, what bike are you lookin' for? IMWTK... ;-)

I cant speak their MC dealerships, but I found that I was shopping for a BMW car, and went to 3 different dealerships they all behaved in a similiar fashion.
Dont walk onto a BMW dealership lot, start looking at cars and expect to see salesman running after you. (I liked this aspect of the BMW no salesman chasing after you shopping). When your ready to talk with someone, or have questions asked, we had to go see the receptionist up front who *assigned* a "Client Advisor" to us, who was really a great helpful guy. This happened at 3 different stealerships in Houston as far as BMW is concerned.
The experience you had with the auction is very strange. Likely, the one you had for your "Client Advisor" and he would not have gotten a commission for helping you with that bike, but ask for the person responsible for the Internet Sales. I would still complain to the General Manager about your experience and that they lost a customer because of it. Let em know your put off by it. They may make concessions and give you a similiar deal on one if you begin to cautiously bark up the right tree. Shake a few and see what falls out. ;-)

My peeve is when a dealership automatically assumes I am trying to get "concessions" from them if I have a problem. I am not about getting freebies. I have no problem paying for services and goods. The thing that makes me the happiest is when they do what they say they are going to do. I don't need to be bought off. I don't need them kissing my backside or schmoozing me. Just answer my questions (and admit when you don't know the answers  ) and I will be quite happy. I go out of my way not to make demands on the people because I know what it is like to be in that position. Unfortunately, that approach did not serve me very well with several BMW shops. I'm not saying I'd never buy another BMW, but given my experiences, I'd have to really want the bike in a bad way. I have not dealt with Lone Star for service, but I have bought quite a bit of stuff from them and liked their people.

.... Not only was I not asked if I needed help I felt like I was being ignored, as no one would even look at me. .....
My experience was~is the same at the local Honda shop. In fact, when I was there in late December 05 or January 06, after I chased down a sales-kid, I asked him if/when they were going to get any ST1300s or had any pricing info for the 06 1300s. When he told me they hadn't heard if Honda was even going to make an ST1300 for 2006, I knew it was time to leave.
Maybe he was joking, but I called the dealer in Bartlesville, and they not only knew, but quoted me over the phone what I considered to be an excellent price - so buying from them was a done deal.
Beats me what the problem with OKC dealers is.... Maybe it's just me....

I heard some rumblings when I was in OKC in November that they may not be a BMW/Ducati dealership much longer.
Fred - would that be Maxey's?

OKC
I talked to my students about it and they told me motorcycle dealer in OKC where all pretty much that way. Wish I would have mentioned my intent to the class before I went and saved myself the frustation.

I can understand why. They were full of bike and with this kind of service I don't see them moving anything fast.
As for complaining on a purchase of this size I want to be happy with it and if it cost me a few buck more to feel like i was treated right so be it.
I did let the sales person know I would be sure and tell everyone how helpful they are.

Nope, their "competition" over in Del City (Oklahoma Honda Suzuki). The folks in Maxeys are less helpful, to me anyway, than Oklahoma Honda. Maybe it's my body language, because many of the folks I ride with have good things to say about both places.
My experience with the dealer (http://www.bartlesvillecyclesports.com/) in Bartlesville was so pleasant that when the time came to replace the 06 I bought from them in Feb, I didn't hesitate to put a deposit down with them for an 07. (Totaled my 06 in Colorado on the first day of a two week trip...:tears: this past August)

Maxey's has always been that way, I had a friend buy two bikes there, but that was only after Jandebeur's closed. I heard the son was struggling with the dealership after old man Maxey passed away and it may be up for sale soon. I have never heard anything good about the one in Del City either and everytime that I went in there I might as well been invisible. I have heard that Modrell's Chickasha Honda-Suzuki (http://wholesalecycles.com/) is suppose to be a good place to deal with as is the one in Bartlesville.
To me it is hard to beat Lone Star or The Euro Shop in Waco, I would buy from either.
BTW - Fred, are you a barber?

OK - my dad's barber's name is Fred and he had an accident around the same time frame as yours that totaled his motorcycle and my dad knew it was a Honda "touring bike" but wasn't sure if it was a Wing or ST at the time.
/hijack off
The only dealer that I would buy from in OKC at this time is Performance Cycle Triumph-Suzuki (http://www.performancecycleokc.com/), they are pretty good guys.

Only thing I see as a fault with that situation is the LT you saw on their website was already on EBay before you got there to see it. Did you call ahead to see if the machine was available? Usually when a bike is getting a good response on EBay, a dealer won't take it off until the bidding has ended; especially if the reserve (lowest set price for item) has been met and folks are still bidding on it. EBay is usually a last resort to move a vehicle. If it still don't meet reserve, a wholesaler will get it. Besides, that dealer would have recieved a bad rating if they didn't sell it to the winning bidder. We all know how fast bad news travels in cyberspace. You mentioned you did not bid on it, therefore; you didn't get that bike.
Them ignoring you in the dealership was wrong. You should have been greeted and asked if you needed any help or had any questions about the bikes.
Besides, LTs are easy to come by. Our dealership has quite a few for sale. If going north was a drag, why not go west?:trust:

Yes! I called and let them know I would have chash in hand when I got there.
The way I see it is if you have it on ebay don't post it on your web site. You posting the bike constitutes an offer in my opinion. I accepted said offer. Dealership did not live up to a binding contract. Thus constituting a breach of contract, but then again I'm no lawyer. Any way, its just not worth my time and car dealer do this kind of stuff all the time. (do not get me started) My only hope is to get the word out so others don't waste their time on this dealer.
I only went north, bc of a business trip. We'll see how I feel after the holiday and I may be PMing you.
Thanks for letting me know about the dealership.
Merry Christmas all.
