Just a question - the Nov date is the weekend before Thanksgiving, which is also the (now annual) tech day in Canton. Any chance that one can be moved closer to Canton so the events can be coordinated?
Or is that silly and I just have to pick one or the other and miss out on a social event?

Hello all, may I ask for the lay of the road for the May 19th trip, where's the hook up, map, route, and time and place. I may be able to make this one, and hope that I can. I am looking forward to meeting all. If not, anyone that wants to saddle up in the North Central Texas area during this time frame. Let me know, thanks sdw.

Hello all, may I ask for the lay of the road for the May 19th trip, where's the hook up, map, route, and time and place.
WC Zimmerman usually starts a thread in the "TWT Sponsored Events" section early in the month, May in this case. Folks will offer up meet points for different starting locations - Houston, Austin, DFW, etc. Look at the thread for last month's - February in Hico to see how it works.
Short answer - it's too early yet... (but never to early to get folks thinking)
There should be a thread for the March run pretty soon now, right WC? ;-)

Hondo is a bit out of the way... Not that being out of the way has stopped folks before, but it does cut down on attendance. We try to get locations that are somewhat central to everyone. But then Edom is not real central to San Antonio or those misplaced souls in El Paso :lol2: Folks have been known to ride a long way for pie, so if you have more details...

I got a responce from Hondo CofC
For the best homemade pie in Hondo, try Flightline Cafe, Landmark Shopping Center (near Beall's Department Store) Hwy 90 West 426-4020. However, this restaurant closes after lunch. Saturday 7:30 - 2:00 and Sunday 7:30 - 3:00. You might also try Bill & Rosa's KK Steakhouse & Saloon, Hwy 90 West, in D'Hanis (10 miles West of Hondo) 363-7230. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need any further information. I hope you enjoy your trip and the pie. Stay Safe!

I used to eat at the Flightline cafe often when I worked in Hondo. It's out at the old airport (hence the name Flightline) There was not much going on at the aiport when I was there. The restauant was/is an older building just off of the parking ramp. Parking for the restaurant was on the ramp. On Fridays, yo would get 25 or so cars parked on the edge of the ramp, and the local pilots would fly in, and park behind the cars. Every now and then the DEA would come by in their Lear jet and black helicopter and have lunch.

I'm not familiar with a good place for pie in Hondo. In nearby Castroville, there's a bakery that has great stuff. But, if I remember right, they don't have tables or chairs for sitting to eat. I do like the idea of a pie run to that area.

Each month is a different place. Clostest one to DFW was in Ponder last year (near Justin/Denton). But it is just an excuse to go ride somewhere, find some new roads, meet new folks, and EAT. There will be some closer ones than Huntsville - Lake Fork, Ponder, Hico, Edom, but you need to be adventuresome (also you need to come meet some Tarrant County folks on Tuesday nights... :trust: )
Does that make any sense?

Sounds good to me. Where you want to meet? Let's NOT do Texas Traditions again...
Of course, this is gonna be a short run compared to last month's 500 miler to Edom. Not sure the 'Busa will know how to handle such a short distance. Guess I'll just have to leave her in first. :cool2:

I've never eaten their breakfast, but I like them for lunch
I was think something simple like whataburger or maybe los altos de jaliscos for some breakfast tacos
Care if I join, I would be coming from West Houston
You guys could meet me in Tomball @ FM 2920 and FM 2978 (at the Shell Station) for a run up 2978 to Honea-Egypt through the SH Nat'l Forest and on up to Huntsville if you like.
It will be a fairly slow pace.

let me rephrase this What time and Where?
All will become clear as the appointed date approaches. First folks need to rattle around to see who can go then they will kick around how long it will take and then they figure out a good starting place with vittles. The Katy bunch will probably start to flesh out Wednesday evening at the Empanada place, maybe.:rider: :sun:
I guess I need to go and eat Empanadas tomorrow

Potential new Pie Run location?
The Mansion dropping formalities
02:27 PM CDT on Tuesday, June 5, 2007
By SUZANNE MARTA / Staff Writer
Better sit down for this one.
The Mansion on Turtle Creek – home of Dallas' grand dame of fine cuisine – is undergoing a major overhaul. When the work is completed this fall, the restaurant will be sans tablecloths, and jeans will be welcome – even without jackets – in the main dining room.
That's right: Except for the 22-seat chef's tasting room, there won't be a dress code. And in the main dining room, the wooden tables will be bare.
These jaw-dropping changes at the Lone Star State's only five-star, five-diamond hotel and five-diamond restaurant are part of a $20 million renovation as the Mansion gears up for a fierce battle for Dallas' affluent diners.
The goal? Maintain the Mansion's historic elegance, but reposition the restaurant as a place for any occasion, not just wedding anniversaries and other special events.
"To many people, the Mansion became unapproachable and a little stuffy," said Robert Boulogne, chief operating officer of the Mansion's parent, Dallas-based Rosewood Hotels. "That's the element we have to address."
I think ol' Bobby's talking about hosting a TWT pie run! Hey, with our group, jackets aren't a problem anyway. Didn't say anything about helmets, though.:eat:

No there are no manditory dues. No charges for Pie Runs. Rides where there are charges; charges will be clearly labled ussually on the first post.
Scott, Tourmeister, will gladly accept donations that go to keeping the website alive.
Most rides we just coordinate on the board, meet somewhere, and ride.
Hope to see you around.

Looking forward to the Hutto pie run in October. My daugter and son-inlaw will be there with myself. Believe it or not they live in Hutto...
Another potential pie run "place" could be Naeglins bakery in New Braunfels... good roads near by also.

Sounds like you're volunteering for a pie scouting mission! There's a link at the beginning of this thread that points to Pie Scouting Reports. As part of that, we need to know seating capacity, quality of the food, parking capacity, and if the management is open to the visit.

Oh boy! Seating capacity. Might be problem. Plenty of parking though. It is mainly a standup and order then leave kinda bakery. Did I mention there are great roads near by...LOL It is right off the traffic circle in the main part of Down Town New Branfels.

Outside? Only a little. It would work as a eat and ride type of distination. Early AM.
I am sure they would like the biz, yet it is mostly a to-go situation. Let me ride out there this weekend and I'll learn more.

Sounds good. Generally, we like places that serve some sort of lunch in addition to the pie. It's not an absolute requirement if there is another place for lunch nearby so folks can park once, then eat, then enjoy pie.

I can see that. I originally thought of this as a place to "tank up" then ride.
Still, let me look into this. The New Braunfels area is a great ride destination.
