In 30 seconds, here's my take for a rider:

Fit: great, comes with 8 varieties of earpieces
Size: disappointingly huge compare to Twisted Pinion's cheapy Sony knockoffs.
Comfort: very comfortable when put in the ears correctly and with the right cushions
sound: exceptional for an audiophile like me, weak on bass for someone with a more 'scooped' idea of good sound. The mid definition is imperative for clarity in a din of wind and motor
isolation: fantastic with the silicon earpieces, very good with the foam (which IMO are more comfortable as they are a bit more forgiving).

In short, I kinda wished I saved the $70 or so and gone with the cheaper Sony MDM-ex51's, but they do sound great and of great quality. and the case is nifty too. The only real downside is that I had to cut the cheek/earpads on the ol Shoei to make a 'path of entry' for these. In truth, the cuts to the padding (and leaving the cloth lining) made it much easier on all accounts, with out sacrificing any fit whatsoever.

I have got a question. How do you adjust the volume when riding? :rider: I have a Creative Labs Sleek that has the volume on the face. When riding, I have it in a belt clip holder with the controls locked. When I come to a stop and want to talk to someone, I have to take off my gloves, pull it out of the holder, or pull the plug. I wish there were an in-line volume control. Any suggestions?

Thanks

honestly, I've set it and go. the isolation is so good that it keeps the outside noise at a constant so I can set the volume accordingly.

My Ipod lives in the map window of my tank bag so I can tap to the next song. I do have a remote on its way though.

I stash the iPod in my tankbag and use a Griffin AirClick RF remote, the remote is strapped to the left handlebar. The capacity (40gb) and accessories is why I got the iPod 3 years ago. I am now wanting the new 80gb iPod.

I use the Etymotic ER6i earphones and wished I would have bought them before instead of trying all of the "cheaper" alternatives that I did. I prefer the foam tips over the silicone tips as well.

Have you also tried the Shures and could you offer a comparison with the Etymotics?

I thought I was doing that buying the shure's over the cheaper Sony's that Twisted Pinion and others here have.

I Have ER-20 earplugs that i've had for 3 years behind the drum kit. Good plugs, but I've never felt like I was getting the quality I was paying for from ER. I was afraid of the same from the ER6's. That and I got a SCREAMIN' deal on the Shure's.

Nope, never tried the Shure earphones. The only thing that I saw with them is they would seem to possibly stick out further than the ER6 model. I know that Shure has a great reputation in the music business, so i would think they would be a pretty good product.

I paid around $80 for my ER6i earphones.

You can use an in line volume control.

I use the Amplirider for controlling and boosting the volume from the satilite radio. He also does a battery version also.
Can not say enough about the service and quality of the products.

I use the Shure E3c's, and I have had no comfort issues at all. I use the foam sleeves, put them in and forget about them. They are so good, that I don't even have to have the music up very loud because they do such a good job of blocking out the ambiant noise. Now at $180, I think, they are no cheap date, but they are well worth the price.
