I finally got a slightly better digicam so I am giving away the old dinosaur. It is fully serviceable/functional, but will not get you any admiring glances from onlookers, geeks, or attractive young women.

If you have wanted to play with a digital but didn't want to pony up for one this is your chance to play in the sandbox for free. Or maybe you want to disassemble a digicam to make an aerial photography project or something. Doorstop. Boatanchor. Dunno. Don't care. I want it gone and I'll send it your way.

Click on this link (http://www.mousetrap.net/~mouse/images/ebay/oly.jpg) to see what comes with.

Manual, 16mb smartmedia card (~200 pics at 640x480, ~70 pics at 1024x760 or whatever the next size up is). My upgraded (new-to-me) camera came with a freebie set of noname 2000mAH NiMH batts and noname overnight charger which I will send along with this care package. I will peakcharge the batts first before shipping.

You will need a card reader to suck the images out of the card, as the camera is from era before USB was commonplace, and the serial cable (!) is deep in a closet somewhere. Pretty much every multi-card card reader on the planet will read smartmedia. If you stay in the digicam game you will eventually want to buy more nimh rechargeables and A Real Charger of some type. Alkalines are wholly unsuited to digicam use.

Some example pics I took with this camera are here (http://greyhound.mousetrap.net/images/albums/20030213%20altus%20first%20day/) (rescue dog's first day home with us). These pics are at the smallest/lowest quality setting. Dog had a booboo on his leg for some of the shots so avert your eyes if you are squeamish. (Greyhound skin is thin and light with minimal fat backing for speed purposes, so their plastics can get damaged easily if you drop them in the parking lot at low speed. I mean if they run into stuff).

If somebody wants this dinosaur, post a note here in the thread. I'd love to ship it off this weekend. The camera, not the dog. Dog stays with me. If I could only teach him to play Xbox my life would be complete.

MAN!
I've had 2 of these with great results! first one just got rtarded after a few years,, maybe I banged it or dropped it? The light meter just messed up.
So I bought another a few months ago from a pawnshop for $50 and was thrilled well it somehow managed to escape my pocket somewhere near 80mph as I was delivering my Father in Laws new Busa

Brotha J: can't tell if my PMs are making it to you or not; I need a mailing address to send it off.

You can email me at this temporary address: freebieoly.fratermus@spamgourmet.net
Not worried about spammers harvesting it because I'll turn it off after I get Brotha's shipping address.
