Anyone know if they (http://www.metalmule.com/luggage-systems/suzuki/suzuki-dl650-VStrom.html) can be had here in the States?
Only other option is shipping from UK ( = $$$)
I like them. :trust:

A 1000 bucks for the paniers and another 500 bucks for the rack.:eek2: :eek2:
I am convinced that the frame is a GIVI without the mounting/locking points.

All I've seen were from overseas distributors. Of course you can get anything if your pockets are deep enough.
On the name brand stuff I've heard Happy Trails are the best. No name brands? See my mermite can post on Paying It Forward. The ones on there are from KLR.com and cost under $300. Combine it with a homemade rack or another of your choosing and you can have a set of aluminum luggage for around $500.

The others have more 'finished' touches, such as better seals, locks and handles, and larger loops on the lids. But the price is right. I can also install them on the racks I have on the Whee from motosport (have semi-soft panniers on now).
Wanted to check out all the options (and prices) before decision time (summer).

A 1000 bucks for the paniers and another 500 bucks for the rack. I received a prompt response to my email.
For 2 x 38 L panniers and mounts: $1114.25 USD
Estimated shipping: ~$150.
That's almost comparable to touratech which offers boxes only for the DL1000.

I followed the thread on ADV.
I don't like the side opening, and, although I'm more functional-minded than appearances, I think they are worse than fugly.
But that's just me.

I'm with you on the side opening bags. Don't like stuff falling out all over the place.

They don't look much different then the Hepco and Beckers which can be had for a bit cheaper.

If someone was of an industrious nature, you could get the top load pelican case http://pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1430
and build the rack and come out ahead of the game!
That's almost comparable to touratech which offers boxes only for the DL1000.
But they do sell the boxes and puck kits for other racks (Happy Trails, Givi, etc.)

If you are going to be at the junction ride, you can take a gander at the system I made for my KLR, if it passes the next couple of months of riding I should be ready for sales by July 07. No peaking you have to see it in person.:rider:

that would work for the KLR650.com cases and the mounts I have on already. Thanks.

Well the Peaking comment was for the centex hill country, its been a while since I was in Colorado. Let me see if I can get some recent pics, I have been in R/D phase for tooo long, and the day job seems to get in the way. With Spring Break coming up, I know I have the next 19 days as duty days, the OT/ Off duty gig pay is nice, but I get sooo tired of drunk coeds :trust:

Actually, that's about $300 more than the 41L Touratech setup. Trust me, I have first had knowledge of the pricing.:lol2:

Hmmmm, you have not been listening to Ed, Dail, Rich, Tony, and several others discuss this ride for the last weekend of April, have you?
The thread is here (http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15150)...

If money is an issue, and you're a creative do-it-yourselfer, take a look at the rack and boxes I made for my DR for well under $100 (see my signature below). The cool thing about the dryboxes I used (other than their $10 ea price) is that they are a little smaller than some of the other offerings, yet big enough for weekend trip use... if you need more volume they stack, and are also available in a 1/2 volume size as well (also stacks). I've been using them for about a year now, and love them. The cool thing about my mounting meathod is that I can really adapt any type of box I want to my rack, but so far I'm happy with the dryboxes. I'd guess he whole set-up (rack, boxes, hardware) weighs less than 10 pounds.
