SOLD!! I'm hoping that one of my fellow TWT'ers will save me from myself and buy this neat little scooter before I decide to put it in my garage. An elderly gentleman donated to my church a pristine 2001 Yamaha Riva XC125 scooter WITH 82 ACTUAL MILES! He had used it with his RV and it had been parked since 2002. We had it freshened up at Central Texas Powersports (new battery, gas tank, carbs re-worked) and it runs like a top. Blue Book and NADA prices are between $1700-$1800 and I have it listed on Craigslist for $1500 but I'll sell it much cheaper to a TWT'er. Make me an offer; proceeds from the sale will go toward our church's support of orphanages in Myanmar.

C'mon, brothers and sisters--make me an offer on this cute scooter. Great transportation at 80+ MPG. I'll listen to any offer---

So barely over its first gallon of gas:eek2:

Nice scooter for a great cause. Good luck.

Actually that's true. When I got the bike it had the tank of gas that was filled when the bike was new in 2001. As you can imagine, the tank and carbs were pretty gummy. We had Central Texas Powersports replace the gas tank and re-work the carbs so now it runs like new . Anybody willing to invest $1000 in a scooter with less than 90 miles? By the way, that $1000 will feed an entire orphanage in Myanmar for almost 4 months...

What is the top end and reasonable cruising speed for one of these?

Honestly don't know, Nutt, but I'm sure someone else will ask the question so I'll get it out of the church's storage shed today and take her for a spin. Hmmmmm--if everyone calls my VStrom 650 a Wee does this mean that I'll be test-riding a mini-wee?? :rider:

I bought one of these for my wife.
It is a great scooter. They will do 55 MPH and haul 2 regular sized people comfortably.
The US Park Service Police use Rivas to patrol in New York--very reliable. It would be a great commuter.
Whoever buys it will have a great ride.
Cheers,
Doug

Scratch the rest of my post, I read it as a Zuma...

-----

Easy cruise is about 25-30, and if you push hard you might see 40 on level ground, hunched over and eyes tearing from the wind...

I've got a 91 Zuma that could use the company, but I'm trying to ignore this post and the fact that it's only about 20 minutes away.

-----

No, I don't have a Zuma on the brain. I'll ask the wife if we can upgrade, and then sell the Zuma.

So is the new price $1000?

And there are plenty of starving children right here in the US, why send the money out of this country?

I have the riva 200 and it will cruise at 65 all day but it only gets 50 mpg at that speed.

I'll answer several questions in one post--
The scooter is indeed a 125cc Riva, which gets surprisingly good acceleration. I just rode it and managed to get it to 55MPH pretty easily (I'm 175#). It'll cruise up and down hills easily at 50 MPH. Yes, I have permission to sell it for $1000 cash which is a heckuva price for a scooter with under 90 miles on it.
It was donated to our church for the express purpose that the proceeds go to a group of orphanages that we support in Myanmar. For those who question why we don't help youngsters closer to home, you might want to join us every Wednesday night as we pick up three bus-loads of kids (primarily Hispanic), feed them supper, and help them with their schoolwork. We also support three orphanages in Russia. Proceeds from the sale of this bike will go to fulfill the words found in Scripture in James 1:27:
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Wow, that is a great deal on a good scooter for someone!!!

Jack,

I was not questioning your good deed, was just curious why most donations go over-seas. It seems like that is the norm these days, when we read about huge donations. It is always to other countries than our own. Orphans hit close to home with me, my father was one.

Looks like Chirpy's going to upgrade his wife's smaller Zuma. I gotta tell you, anyone looking for a scooter missed an absolute steal on this one...

Agreed - with my wife's Atlantic still imprisoned in the shop, I was sure considering getting it for a spare...

Hey, Chuck--
I guess it's kosher to hijack my own thread. With the warmer weather I'm starting to itch for another VStrom BBQ run. I promise not to show up at this one on a Harley...

Been thinking that, too - early March (next month) maybe...

Guess I need to start a thread - there are at least one or two military types that were interested in one before they get deployed.

Congrats on unloading ANOTHER two-wheeler...

Congrats on unloading ANOTHER two-wheeler...
And I'll be glad to pick up the lunch ticket for those military types. Maybe selling bikes for other people will help to cure my severe case of "Kurtitis"--the overwhelming urge to sell a motorcycle when it starts running out of gas

I think that's a Wikipedia entry there...or at least an Urban Dictionary entry. Hmmmm

Kurtitis

The overwhelming urge to sell a motorcycle (or other vehicle) when it starts running out of gas. To buy and sell vehicles frequently when one is not a dealer, usually to try and decide what you want.
He's got a bad case of kurtitis, he's bought and sold six motorcycles this year!

What I hear from the office Williamson County Tax Collector/Assessor is that they've been sending "we miss you" cards to Kurt; he hasn't transferred a title thus far in 2007. Could Kurtitis be cureable?:lol2:

Could Kurtitis be cureable?:lol2:

Of course it is! The cure resides at a motorcycle dealer, or in someone's garage.

Now, which one of those, exactly, is the tough nut to crack. I believe intense clinical research is ongoing in the Georgetown area, though... :coffee:

I tried to buy your scooter to help us both with our problem. Unfortunately, I'm truck shopping at the moment, so my offer was rather meager. Sounds like Chirpy convinced the wife to upgrade.... for her safety of course.

Sounds corny, but when you sell a bike you really like to see it go to a good home. Chirpy and wife will treat it right...

After weeks of delays and backorders I ordered the 2720. Now they have the 2730 for $499. :lol2: I'm very happy with the 2720 and really had no use for the additional features of the 2800 series.
