I'm going to GrandSport Speedway in Houston with RideSmart in late April, and I'll have my DRZ track prepped. RideSmart has two separate track days, a Saturday and a Sunday, and since my bike will already be prepped, I'd like for him to get a chance on the track as well. He's expressed desire to before, but has always made excuses, "I don't have a bike to risk like that, because I don't want to risk hurting the FZ1." or "Even if I do use your bike, what if I wreck it?" or "I don't have leathers."

Well, since my bike is prepped, there is a bike to use. It's essentially a glorified dirt bike, so crashing it in track plastics won't hurt it much. Now it's time to take care of the leathers.

I'd really like for him to have this opportunity, so if anyone is willing to let him borrow their leathers for a weekend it would be wonderful. I don't think he's comfortable with rental leathers.

He wears 36 pants and a 44 jacket, I believe.

He's an older guy (compared to me, at least) and pretty cautious, and I have no doubts in my mind about his riding ability. This would be his first track day and I'd imagine he'd take it pretty easy no matter what.

Please let me know if you have something that may help him. :)

I have two of the four sets left that I put up for sale(one one piece and 1 2 piece) The problem would be getting them to you. I we were in Austin between now and then he could borrow them,,, Or I could mail them and you could Mail them back, but that would probably be as much as I want to sell them for($100 shipped)
If nothing else works out let me know Maybe I can figure something out

I have a set of leathers I could give him. Let me check the size.

Checked the size and I'll be durned if I can't find it. I think it would be a bit large on him since these used to fit me when I was a bit more ...umm...errr...aerodynamic!

Hey Brian, I have a Triumph mesh set that zip together. I'm 5'10" and weigh 215. So probably 38 pant, 42 jacket or so. Its what I plan on using when I get my track days in, since I'll be riding with the slowbies.

I'd rather slide in leather, but mesh is what I gots for now.

RideSmart doesn't allow mesh, otherwise he'd be fine. According to their site, only leather or Cordura type materials are allowed, but they specifically state that no mesh will be allowed.

:( Dang.

Awesome! I'll send you a PM later today so we can work out some details so he can try them on beforehand.
