I had contacted Tourmeister about advertising here but there is none.
I hate to join and post but Teeds link was on target with what I am attempting.
This may appear a bit pricey but with two couples and looking at the features, laundry, hot tub, secure parking, cleaning station, lake, secure parking, a whole house, 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, secure parking?? Could talk to the wife about massages??:trust: Nah, she won't give me one...
www.etexasrentals.com is the web site. I bought 8 acres down the road and want to build up to 12 smaller cabins...one bed with kitchen and bathroom and central laundry.
Can East Texas draw out of town riders? The area is a diamond in the rough, close to Houston and Dallas with unlimited stretches of two lane twistie roads.
Check it out and give me some feedback:giveup:

I think if you advertise enough you might do well in East Texas but you'd probably do really well if you built them near Kerrville. Good luck!

But then they'd be one among the masses.
I agree that there is a lot to like about East Texas from a rider's POV, but I'm not sure it has the same overnight/vacation/tourist draw that some other areas have.
I wish you luck and look forward to hearing more about the place.

Ahhh...but you forget about First Monday! Folks come from all over to the Giant Junk Sale on a monthly basis. I can think of lots of folks who'd like to come ride some nice two-laners, check out the circus that is First Monday, then have quiet place to hang their helmets. Lodging is next to impossible to find anywhere near Canton on First Monday weekends. A couple of hours away from the zoo is about right!
Now just advertise some help in getting their purchases home for them somehow...

I ride over in the hill country every now and then. Mile for mile, I can leave my front door here in East Texas and ride for days and never hit a main road.
The small towns and rednecks are unique to the area:lol2:
I agree the draw is not there. But 1.5 hours from Houston and 2.5 from Dallas is a lot nicer than 3-6 hours???
I offer to pick up groceries and have though about setting up bike rentals and picking folks up at the airport.....but it would take a lot more than money to get me to first Monday:eek2:
I really appreciate the feedback. Keep it comming, I am new at this and am really just a construction guy with a dream...and a little extra cash:rider:

I would think it could work as it would probably be a draw from southeastern Oklahoma and western Louisiana as well. It is a nice riding area, of course I prefer the Kerrville area but I am a lot closer to it here.
Good luck :thumb:

Thanks! I'm betting on it:mrgreen:
I sure would hate for the misses to look at me and say "what the **** were you thinking?"
Or the Dallas Sister in-law that says "who wants to vacation and visit the sticks"
I have to make it work... Otherwise my ego will be shattered:doh:

The first long ride that I took was one of Scott's (Tourmeister) newbie rides, I definitely was not ready for that many miles but the roads out in that area really surprised me. I had driven some nice roads around Fort Polk so I knew the possibility was there. It is definitely an underrated area.

Hey,copusrider, good to see you here. I post on the other forum as Tatareto. Ronnie and I need to visit over there and set up some good dual sports rides in your area. Seeing as he's retired from real work maybe he could make that a project!

I haven't toured East Texas in about ten years. I'd love to go again and would gladly chip in with a small group to stay at your place. Looks great and the prices are reasonable. Do you have more homes planned?

Ooh - an idea - (and I rarely get those) - why not open up some of the land to moto camping until you've built the additional units? With the nicer weather on its way this might help raise a portion of the funds for the upgrades, plus it'll appease the wife by showing that "if you build it they will come".
Not sure about anyone else, but sometimes I just want a cheap piece of land to call home for the night without all the fancy KOA amenities (or pricetag that comes with it all).

East Texas is worth the short ride. Would love to have you and will throw in a dozen fresh eggs!!
I do plan on building 10-12 more smaller ones...single bed cabins.
Thanks.

That is something I might consider.

Yes, east texas around Crockett has some great FM roads. Beautiful green forest. I went to high school there. I am thinking about a ride there soon. Thanks for the website with the pictures. So much has changed. Was there a couple of years ago for a reunion. Thanks for the Houston County Courier pic, that is where my dad worked.

I hope to add more info to the site. I will be working hard on the rides page with time.
The house is taking all my time but is nearing completion. Then I won't know what to do with myself. Maybe ride a little more:rider: Give a shout if you come down this way!!

Well Flame, as someone who lives in the metropolis of Whitehouse I can say that anyone south of here is a "redneck". Ha Ha just kidding

After what seems an eternity the wife and I have finished our project. We framed, roofed, tiled, built cabinets etc etc......I am a builder so it's O.K.
I missed my guys in Houston.....I like being the boss more than working but I am cheap:trust:
Check it out and let me know what you think....www.etexasrentals.com
For two couples it puts hotels to shame on their prices!! A bargain if I must say!!:rider:

For the next month Until June 16th. Any booking made before that date (it can be a booking for a later date) will result in a 10% donation in your name to TWT, if you mention it was seen here. The payment will be sent after the transaction is complete!
Of course the home must be left in reasonable condition:giveup:

We have added a second waterfront home that will be ready in early Feb. www.etexasrentals.com
The rate for weekly rentals is temporarily reduced for the new home. It's a good one!
