Located on hwy 69 south past 84 intersection approx 100 yds going towards Alto. The ribs are finest kind. Dry smoked with rub. Generous portions. I personally prefer these over Country Tavern ribs on Gregg/Smith County line because they are at least as good if not better and larger portion for less money. This place is in an old drive in cafe and still has the big awning out front. The first time I saw it I thought it was a motorcycle dealership there were so many bikes out front. Then go on down to Alto and hit the el-camino real hwy 21 also known as the old San Antonio Road. Turn left to Nacogdoches or right to Crockett.

I love my ribs with a good dry rub instead of the wet sauce.

Rusk. South of Tyler. He's done it now.... He has disrespected the finest ribs in all of Texas. :-P I've spent a lot of time eating ribs, shooting pool, dancing and drinking at the Country Tavern. This better be good.

BBQ is like Mexican food in that it is all so subjective. That being said, I live here in Gregg County and have eaten at the Tavern many times and have taken quite a few people out there and fed them. You are correct in that the Tavern has very good ribs and better ribs are hard to find if possible and I believe I've done it. BUT, the problem is that where All Star is located I think is in a DRY County or at least a dry area so no brew for you. I think that one of the contributing factors for the Taverns HUGE reputation is that it is located on the Smith/Gregg cnty line and Smith is a dry cnty. Around here it is considered as much of a beer joint as a dining establishment. ps. Coopers is ok. clyde (oooooooooooooooooooooooooo that done it)

Oh yea..directions. I can't believe any of ya'll would be caught dead without a Texas road atlas. Mine is a DeLorme that I got at wallyworld. I have gone out to ride roads because they looked good on the map. Whenever I go to a new area to ride I just tear out that page and take it with me and stick it back in the book when I get home. Whenever it gets too ragged, I'll just pop for a new one, around 20 bucks.:eat: :rider:

The only fair thing would be for ya'll to come up here and eat both. Now that's an idea.
