Apparently Scorpion is coming out with a new helmet, the EXO-1000...

Pics and article here (http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/scorpion/exo-1000/)

Some features...

The EXO-1000 features a unique an innovative cheek pad fitting system, called the HelmetPump. The HelmetPump is reminiscent of the Reebok Pump, the first athletic show to have an inflatable bladder (and not the Nike Air as I reported earlier).

A button on the inside of the chin bar can be squeezed to pump up the cheek pads, creating a custom fit for the rider. A small button next to the pump button is pressed to release the air pressure, allowing the rider to remove the helmet.

It remains to be seen how comfortable this system will be for the rider; a lot depends on the initial placement of the cheek pads. If the cheek pads are installed with extra room, allowing them to be pumped up to fit, the system may have advantages. But if the cheek pads are installed at "normal" widths, inflating them may only be useful for those with thinner than normal heads.

In any case, it's an interesting concept and a first for motorcycle helmets, as far as we know. The EXO-1000 also includes the "SpeedView" sun visor, an internally rotating visor similar to the one found on the Schuberth C2 (see review), the Schuberth S1 (see review) and others.

The EXO-1000 also includes Scorpion's "KwikWick" moisture-absorbent helmet liner, the "EverClear" anti-fog visor and the "SpeedShift" visor removal system. KwikWick liners are available separately in various colors and in patterns including Op Art Checkerboard, Jungle Camo, Leopard, Zebra, Desert Camo and Standard Grey.

The helmet will feature a composite fiberglass and Kevlar shell, a locking visor, a dual-density EPS liner and more. Suggested retail price is expected to be $299.95 for black and $309.95 for other solid colors. Graphics will retail for $329.95.
I'll be interested to see how well it fares...not sure about the whole cheekpad-reebok-pump-bladder thing though.

I do know that since 2005 they have improved the ratchets for changing the visor....the grips were so hard to get a hold of on my 2005 EXO700 helmet and it made my fingers hurt, but my 2006 EXO700 is much better.

I wonder if you can hook up a CO2 cartridge to inflate the bladders? That would make for an interesting fit.

On this list, we'd be more likely to just fill our cheeks with pie. :eat:

Same effect, much less $$$.

I love the built in shades idea.

I like my 700. It is a bit heavy.
Rider just did some reviews on new lids.
I like the Suomy Vandal and might pick one up.
They gave pretty high marks to an AGV helmet but can't remember the model.

OMG! I have to get this lid just for the internal shade!!!!!!
I had one on my Schuberth C2 but that thing didn't fit me well and the venting was horrrrrrible. I like my 700 a lot.

By the way, New Enough has them listed as available in mid August for $299.

Just in time for my noggin's birthday.

Love their helmets but they just don't make one that fits our head shape. We both have to wear Arai (her the Signet and I the newer Profile). I wish Arai had the sun visor built in. That is the ultimate.

I am ordering the EXO-100 (not 1000) this weekend since none of the dealers here in Houston will have them in anytime soon.

This is an open face helmet that has a built in, internal visor. Why nobody has thought of building this before now amazes me.

Why should Arai install an internal sun visor that will not need replacement when they can charge me $50+ for a tinted visor that's likely to get scratched and need replacement? I'm sure, if it gets a good following, the other hemet manufacturers will follow suit.

I love the sunshade idea too, but this concept REALLY intrigues me. I think it's been discussed here before.

It has been done for a whhile by German helmet makers Schuberth and Caberg. I am on the prowl for a Caberg. Non-flip up full faced ones sell for just over $225. They have gotten good reviews as well.

I tried the Caberg at Moto Liberty but my fat head was just too big. I really liked the fighter pilot thermonuclear sun shade.

I went with an EXO700 which I've liked. I also splurged and got the photochromatic shield which has been really handy for commuting.
