Anyone want to sell their Givi Crashbars for a DL1000?

I can attest to needing mine!
Something to look out for if you buy used - when I removed the bars to work on the bike, I found that one had cracked right by the weld point where it attaches to the frame. I can't recall any hard hits on that side, only a soft drop in a parking lot (I let it down as easily as I could when I realized I couldn't save it from going over).

What kind did you put on your bike?
By the way, I can't ride for another 6 weeks because of my recent surgery. My cardiologist said no riding for 8 weeks. You talking about withdrawl pains. That bites!

I have the Givi. It was an easy fix for Bill (DFW_Warrior) to weld it back together.
I can exercise the bike for ya...

I'm sure you would. My brother has been riding it. I don't think I'll last another 6 weeks. Don't tell the Doctor though.

I just sold my Pat Walsh setup. I think I will be hitting up my wife's uncle ---Incredible welder. Hopefully I can convince him to fab up some stronger material and put some tabs on for some forward footpegs for the longer rides.

I wouldn't buy the Givi's used. They are designed to take impacts and do it fairly well, but they will bend in a crash. Trust me, I know this to be true. I just don't want you buying something that someone else already bent up a little and then it just gives you fits trying to fit it to your bike.
On the flip side, if I were to do it all over again (after my crash) I'd still buy the Givi's. They saved me a ton of cash when I decided to do this...:rider:

I appreciate your response. I bet this was a little embarassing.

Nah, I was laughing while I was sliding. I'm one of those strange people that kinda likes to crash every once in a while.:eek2: It keeps the blood flowing and the bones strong. lol

Just as a warning, every set of Givi's I've ever seen, has cracked or broken at one or both of the upper mounting points. I've read about several people online having the same problem too.
That being said, they are relatively easy to fix if you can weld. They also tend to hold together better after they are welded up.
I also think they are the best looking crashbar option, but don't discount the Pat Walsh either. I thought they looked horrible on his website, but once they are on the bike they look great.
Maybe you could buy some broken ones for real cheap and have them fixed for a few bucks. That would be a very cheap option.
Good luck!

One thing I did notice while welding up Squeaker's Givi's, her upper mounts and mine are made different. Her's were just welded on, but mine actually had a two-piece construction to them with a very large bolt holding them together from the back side. So maybe they've beefed up the design a little.
I can tell you this, after me smacking them fairly hard on concrete, they bent in quite a bit but didn't break or crack in the least. So far I'm happy with them. For me the PW bars wouldn't have protected the plastic the way the Givi's did. I would have been out some cash if I had any other bars on minus the H&B's.

One other consideration is mounting highway pegs. The Givi bars seam to offer a bunch of places to mount highway pegs, were as the other makes need some fab/welding to mount highway pegs.
As for DFW_Warrior (aka Water Lily) I can asure you there was zero embarassment and a whole bunch of laughter.

I'm not embarrased a bit about DFW_Warriors little off-road (and I mean waaaayyy off road) trip! I like my PWs but if I had to do it again I'd prolly go with a different set-up. Bill's set-up makes me drool. I have the highway pegs on my PW and it works great. I just rest the back of my ankles on pegs. The pegs only cost 9 bucks and I really don't notice any vibration at all.

What kind of pegs did you use?

I was cruzing ebay over the weekend. I did a search on motorycle parts for "Bandit" and a set of GIVI crash bars showed up in the search. I am not aware of GIVI making crash bars for the Bandit and the bike in the picture was definatley not a Bandit, it was DS bike, maybe a Strom. I could not see enough of the bike to be sure.

SW Mototech crashbars dont offer any protection for fairings. Only the engine.
Yes, I can attest to that: replicated several times.
When I get the cash, Givi CBs are replacing them.
