View Full Version : AUSTIN: Austin - Sunday morning ride, probably to somewhere
In keeping with the tradition of Austinites, we've planned a Sunday ride. Not sure where to meet, or what time. Not real sure where we will ride, so those are the details. ;)
Actually, this started with the Triumph RAT group planning a ride to the races at TWS. There was not much response, and I've been cooped up with work and sorry weather, so I'd rather ride than sit and watch.
We will likely meet for breakfast in Round Rock (Rudys for breakfast taco?) or Cedar Park (Taco Cabana for breakfast taco?) around 9:00-9:30am, then head out northwest or west for a couple hours or so.

This is just vague enough for my tastes. I'm a definite maybe.

Come'on, what'd ya find? Or are you worried about some vulture swooping in on you?

I am not opposed to a little off roading.

Nice LT. I traded my 2003 LT in for my FJR last July. If you haven't riden an LT before be careful when starting and stopping. It's a heavy bike and you can feel it at low speeds. After 5mph it handles great. Enjoy your new bike.

Wow, that's one heck of an upgrade!
Randy, you're starting to show signs of Multiple Bike Syndrome. I think you've been hanging around the wrong people... :cool2:
Weather will be great tomorrow. Congratulations. When are you planning your iron butt to Florida?

HEHE Cant wait to see you at the next pir run we can make...
Scott has a route heading west from South Austin, returning from Llano vi pk rd 4 back into Cedar Park.
The suggested start point is Rudy's BBQ on 360 in South Austin. What time do we need to leave to get to Llano before the lunch rush Scott?

I figure if we leave the Rudy's on 360 at 9:00am that should put us at Cooper's BBQ in Llano a little after 11:00am. So I am going to say meet at the Rudy's on 360 just west of Barton Creek Mall around 8:30am for gas and breakfast, leave at 9:00am.
Here are some files if you want the route.

We head out for the ocean on May 11, and can't wait. I did buy the black one at Lonestar, as it was in better shape even though it has a few more miles.
We should be at Rudy's in the morning on time barring traffic and the like. Thats quite a ways from the house. See you then.

Well, I figured since almost everything else I plan starts out up north I would start this one closer to me this time, plus it ends up north so it will make for a shorter ride home for you northsiders at the end of the ride.

Sounds like a plan!
I'll try not to be a downer, but just to let y'all know I have a tank range of about 80 miles.

See ya there.
tank range of about 80 miles.
I go to reserve at 115, so my range isn't much farther. Its probably only 70 miles to Llano.

We'll try to remember that :trust:
The route that I picked is something like 84 miles to Coopers, so we will stop somewhere along the way for you.....and a seat break. I have a 200-225 mile range

Nah, I can make 84 miles. My gas mileage is usually better when I go on sport rides compared to when I put around town. I averaged 47mpg running LCR up and back, but only get around 42-45mpg around town since I sit in traffic every day.

hey, :welcome: to the forum!
Watch out for that blue-Scott-OK guy, though! ;-)
(he may actually steer the ride into going SOMEWHERE)

Good riding with you folks today. Thanks for going through the Willow City Loop. I would have skipped it assuming terrible traffic, but traffic wasn't bad, and the loop was beautiful.
Those county roads with low water crossings, cattle guards, roaming beasts etc are my type of routes. That was so much nicer than cruising down 281 or 71. Great route guys.
Randy, that LT is styling man. Congrats.
