Good for both of you! Having her for an exploring buddy would be awesome!

Just got home from the DMV and she is now an officially licensed m/c rider on a legal registered m/c...

I've created a MONSTER....

She's already asking to take the "long way home."

This is gonna be fun.

Well when the DMV lady was inspecting the bike, she asked what the color description should be. Angel said BLACK...so I guess I had better get after it soon. We found a nice black gripper seat cover on fleabay, and as soon as I source some black fork boots, it will be spraybomb time!!!

Hey Mike,

Come on down, brother!!!

Day before yesterday, I found 50 miles of dirt that will get us more than halfway to carlsbad...

Crazy fun route!!!

There are some very sandy sections so if you are gonna bring the GS we might have Lenda and Danyell ride in the Tahoe to trailer the TW to the pecos river and we can take the scenic route down there...Then on the way back you will know what to expect and you can two up for extra adventure points...

I am really wanting to find an all dirt route to carlsbad...shouldn't be too hard...I hope to meet up with a carlsbad rider this sunday who can fill in the rest of the route...

Probably no GS in the future...for the type of riding we will do together, the TW is GREAT...if anything, we may eventually add a DR350/XT350/XL350 to the stable to give her some highway legs, too...

You picked the right bike for your wife. As long as you are sticking to dualsport roads and highways, the TW200 does just fine with a 15-47 sprocket set and o-ring chain instead of the stock 14-50/standard P.O.S. chain. My next sprocket set will be 15-49 which will allow a steady 60mph on the highway under most any conditions. The engine just doesn't have the oomph to pull 65mph under difficult conditions.

05-07-2007, 08:39 PM
yeah o-ring chain is for sure on my list of necessary bits.

05-07-2007, 11:19 PM
The stock chain lasted 5000 miles, and was sloppy on the last adjustment point, with daily lube. RK O-ring has lasted 5000 miles, two adjustments of one notch each, brushed with SeaFoam, left to dry, and sprayed with Champion Motorcycle Chain Lubricant every 1000 miles or so. At this rate, the chain will last longer than I will.

That's awesome! :)

Do get her a bit more protective gear though, IMO - when rider is new to riding, habits get formed. A ladies jacket with some armor, mesh with a liner for when it gets colder... especially when she is new, she might spill it easier.

Of course, just a suggestion, you do what you think is right.

Hey, it is great she is out riding. She looks like she is having fun; even with the helmet on, you can tell she is smiling!!:rider:

Today she rode some atv trails...

Then she let me ride it...

She said I was way too big for it and was afraid I'd break something...

So I hopped on the KLR...

TW200- the Willis Jeep of the motorcycle world. Bulletproof, reliable, stable, easy to ride. IMHO, the most versatile motorcycle on the planet.

Excellent first ride Angel. Congrats.

Congrats on a shared hobby! Me and Marie ride together all the time and its part of our "OUR TIME" It's great when a couple have a shared interest

Man O' Man, Looks like it's gonna be quite an adventurous year for you Bullfrog! Angel looks like she's getting the hang of it. Need a wheelie pic soon! Keep'em coming!:sun:

I am soooo proud of her...yesterday she rode on busy city streets, kept up with me on the highway @55-60mph, ran 25-25mph on dirt roads, ran through mud and water puddles...i was smiling the whole time.

We were gonna ride for a couple of hours this morning but I hit the 'off' button instead of the 'snooze' button and it's about time to pick up our daughter from grandma's house....

We will hit the DUNES in a week or two....stay tuned.

Some of the happiest times in our 36 yrs of marriage are when, Carol, my wife was riding bikes w/ me. Mainly pavement, but away from the city.
Now, she has been looking hard at my DL650.

06-13-2007, 06:19 PM
thats awsome....looks like she is doing great....I'm still looking for a girl who is willing to learn to ride and go ride with me or who already knows how to ride.

06-13-2007, 11:07 PM
Hope this is on the same line.
Best to just get them up ft & get the bike rolling & have them take over the controls. Coming to a stop, I would reach under her arms & bring it to an uneventful end. Soon after she wanted to do the take off & stops her self. Then I was standing there watching my bike go down the road w/o me. Strange feeling. But neat too.

It's been a while since we have been able to ride together...

Went out yesterday and rode 100 miles...about 60 miles of dirt...

She was doing soooo great....handled the sand and hardpack washouts like a champ...

Really need to start getting more action shots...oh well...

Here's a few pics.

Looks like she is enjoying it :thumb:

Love those pink grips and gloves! :sun:

My wife got trained up, we got her bike running good - and she's decided there's too much going on with a motorcycle for her to get comfortable with the notion of being a rider. Sigh. So we will be selling her 1986 Honda Shadow 500 :-(

07-28-2007, 05:46 PM
Bike looks alot better. Guess you know how lucky you are having your wife willing to jump in there.:sun:
