Why not; there's YouTube..........
If any DL650 riders have mounted a tool tube on their Wee-strom where the 'other' exhaust is supposed to be, could you post or email me pics of how you mounted it to the bike?
My project for this coming weekend.
Thanks
(I already have PVC tube and ends)

Just used a couple of 5 inch hose clamps that I got at Ace Hardware to attach it to the Givi rack...

I know you have seen it before but here it is again:

Chucks version is probably more secure. I tried to go for the minimalist look with my front and back bracket but the hose clamp did come off the front part from bumpy back roads. I just had to reattached the hose clamp to the bracket, but it could slip off again. Good news is it did stay on after last weekends LBJ Grasslands off road ride.
I also have the same side case brackets that Chuck has.
Maybe you can see it in person again in June, after I finish my huge test I am studying for. I just don't have time for any real rides right now.

Hmmm.... I'm thinking I'd like the thinner PVC tube that you two used rather than the thick heavy one I already have. But then I'd need different caps. <groan> I can see the advantages of the thinner vs. thicker, one being weight, the other the larger diam opening.
You both have the Givi mounts, I have Motorsport. I'll have to see how the tube can be affixed to that.
What did you use for paint? Looks like you two used something different.

I used some left over HiTemp black paint that I had from some other ancient project. There was just enough left to do the pipe.
I have pieces of both the thin and thick wall tube. I think the inside diameter is the same. I ended up getting the thick tube because the end caps I cought at Lowe's were too big for the thin stuff.
I still have 2 lengths of thin wall that I got from Brad if somebody wants one (or both). I have about 4 feet of thick wall that can be cut, also.

Just a note, these can be put on DL1000s also:

I think that is Wolfgang's bike...
I used a black paint, flat, that was made for plastic. Its not perfect because I dropped my cap on the ground and it chipped off a little of the black paint.
I think I still have a section of thin tube left. I tried to give as many away as possible at the V-Strom tech day a few months back.
I use the tube to hold water bottles, maps, or camera. It enables me to ride without any luggage at all for shorter trips where you don't want to lock anything up.
On another note, I got one of those slime air pumps at wal mart $20, and it works great to air the tires up. I aired them down to 20 psi on the grasslands offroad ride and it did make a difference. I used the pump to air em back up before I rode home.

Ok, now you've gone and done it - I guess I'll be making a trip to Home Depot tomorrow! :ponder:

I'll be mounting the tubes Sat and immediately transferring my pregnant tool pouch out of my side bag into that. I'd like to find a piece of that black reflective tape to put on the nub of the cap :)
