View Full Version : compact 2-man tents
Can anybody here recommend a 2persontent that folds up small enough to fit in a topbox (ie, packed size is less than 20" long)?
Something like (but not limited to), one of the following:
MSR Sidewinder 2
http://www.backcountry-equipment.com/tents/msr_sidewinder2.html
Marmot AT 2 person
http://www.shopslms.com/maat2pete.html
Eureka zeus 2 exo
http://www.thetentstore.com/eureka!_zeus_2exo_03_tents.htm
Anyone happen to have one of these?

Wow, the sidewinder is made for really skinny people if they think two people can comfortably fit side by side in 4'6"
The Marmot, claims 26 sq feet but does not give length width info. Just as reference, 4 X 7 would be 28 sq feet!
At least the Zues has 32 Sq ft of floor area, getting more realistic now I think.
Are they making these things for midgets?
Get Steve's Riderwarehouse catalog, they have a large selection of cycle friendly camping tents ;-) And a host of other goodies as well!
Can't wait to see your bike packed for two WITH camping gear!

I originally saw MSR tents on www.helmetharbor.com of all places.
So, now I'm leaning toward the Eureka Apex 2xta (http://www.eurekacamping.com/apexxta_03.asp) Heh, by coincidence, it happens to be on www.riderwearhouse.com. Odd, since I would never have gone there to look for one because I recalled their tents being $$$.
And they're supposed to be small, dammit, that's the whole point. :P
I think between the 132 Liters of givi luggage and my Ultra, Mega, Mega Tankbag (http://www.sport-touring.net/gear/tribag/index.shtml), we can do it... maybe :?
So, speaking of which, when are we doing that Meridian State Park get-together?

Homey don't do dat camp'n thang! ...
Well, not so often anymore ;-)
Maybe in the fall when it starts cooling off again, say late Sept, early Oct.
The Heart of Texas Ride is going to be in the same area in a few weeks, just no camping for me. No gear anymore, gave it all to my cousins; pads, tent, backpacks, everything. :|
