On a family trip to New Braunsfels to SA and up 281 through Marble Falls and up to Fort Hood I saw several huge HD dealerships. I have seen so many Harleys lately that I guess it makes sense there would be more dealerships but it was still amazing. Those same trails in the past had independent shops that would fix anything. But it appears that HD has a huge presence in central Texas.

Even though Marble Falls was flooded early in the week, it was open for business Sunday when we came through. Good for them.

That is amazing. Around these parts, CycleGear is about the only shop I know of open on Sundays.

I work in a HD store S. Austin and we are closed on Sundays thank God so we can ride. I love your SL350. I have had a scrambler (CL) and a CB but never a SL. Does yours have a electric start or is it the one with a kick start and alloy fenders? I would love to have a 71 or 72 but ever time try to put one together the stock exhaust is more than then cost of the bike. and regrettably, on the SL, the pipes "make the bike". But yours looks cool, very rare in Blue. Mostly what you see are Gold and Red. Do you ever ride it off-road? I am old enought to remember when Honda took (very modified) 350's to Baja.

I meant to say that the town was open on Sunday not the HD dealership. The surprise was the number of Harleys and Buells and dealership.

The SL is a K1 and has no electric start. It was used offroad for a few years at a cattle ranch and now it is mostly an around town vehicle although I plan to take it to LBJ Grasslands very soon for a little rough riding.

The pipes I bought new in 1985 or so and show some surface rust. The last pair I saw on eBay were about $1300.

I learned to ride on a CT70 and then a SL100. The really cool bike was the 1971 SL175K1 twin I had next-It was cool and sounded good too! Blue just like SL350's bike!
If you ever have to part with your SL350 let me know!

a few those Harley dealerships seem more like a snooty boutique than a motorcycle dealership.

It is amazing that Marble Falls was open on Sunday.

No doubt, man that town took a bad hit. Bluebonnet was on the Austin news since they were open for business saying they shipped in over 8000 gallons of water. Gotta love that attitude.

Rick,

You probably missed the story while you were chasing bears backpacking in BB. Marble Falls received somewhere between 14 and 18 inches of rain one night last week. Roads floated away and the main water lines were broken and the only fresh water was bottled. Some amazing pictures of cars in trees and the like.

Sorry, you are right, I didn't know about the rain. I thought you were just referring to the small town as a whole.
I took it as a funny comment that a "town" was closed. I could picture a sign on the road. "Town Closed, Open Monday thru Friday 8:00 to 6:00."

My family had one of the lake lots when they started to fill the lake. No other development there except a community swimming pool. Look at it now.
