I searched the FAQ, no help.
Tried to insert an animated avatar and got a message that they were not allowed, yet, I see many on the forum. What's the trick?? Thanks.......

Was an animated avatar not allowed or was the file just too big?

The first one I tried, the file was too big. I selected another, smaller one, and got a message that "animated avatars are not accepted."
It's no biggie, kinda like the one I found, but, still curious why I got that message when there are loads of animated avatars on the forum.
Thank you for you time.........

I don't recall any animated ones on here (just off the top of my head). What's the screen name of a member that has one so I can take a look-see at the file type?

GIF files can be animated and don't require any special support. This picture is an example - http://brogdensmuse.menofhonorministry.org/images/bikers.gif

bung has one, too.
Maybe they grandfathered in and any new ones get thrown out.
Could be the fallout from my "hep cat" avatar... :ponder:

Yeah - there's another "old" one that has been around forever...
Oh! Sorry! I meant the avatar!

Well, no need to answer the question about who has one...........thank you, gentlemen. BTW, 'twas a .gif file that I tried to upload.
Really, it's no biggie. I just thought that maybe I was doing something wrong.
What I have as an avatar is of little consequence. We can blame it on poltergiests and get on with talk about bikes, yeah, that's the ticket!

Anyone that had one before I set the option to prevent them did indeed get grandfathered in. IF they ever change their avatar, they won't be able to use an animated one. We were getting so many that it was very distracting for reading the forums. That vulture is not a biggie because it is slow and not annoying. Some of them though were getting a tad on the obnoxious side ;-)
