A police officer who died in a motorcycle crash while on duty had run a red light, presumably while pursuing a traffic violator, police said Monday.
Officer Dayle "Wes" Hardy, 31, was heading north on Independence Parkway with lights and sirens about 11 a.m. Saturday, a Plano police accident report said. Witnesses told police he may have been traveling at 50 mph shortly before the crash. It was unclear how fast he was going as he crossed the intersection.
