Got caught in the rain yesterday and had to turn back. Enough already!
Washed the bike, installed my CRG shortie levers, carbon ventilated clutch cover and went for an early ride this morning to beat the rain. It was fun!!
The bike's torque is like a big fat giant rubberband, if that's the way to describe it. Wind it on and off and the power is there all the time. Comfortable but felt a bit of numbness in the groin area after a while from the buzzing of the engine throught the tank cover. Not too bad..but kinda strange and not unpleasant sensation though.
200+ mile ride about 50/50 wide sweepers/technical and straights. This bike is not in it's element on fast sweepers..she needs tight technical roads. Found myself over steering through many of them. Plenty of juice and wind it on too fast coming out and she'll lift the front wheel. Wheeeeee!
Got about 109 miles before the low fuel light came on and put in about 2 gallons.
It's funny..you feel like you're riding a small dual sport but man when you need to pass 2-3 cars at a time, the engine can sure put out with the best of them. Very confidence inspiring.
90+F today and she did not even feel hot or bothered and neither did I. Even in traffic snarls. Not like my 1098S which is absolutely tortuous in traffic jams. I have to say that this bike will make a really good city suburban daily commuter. No overheating issues, comfortable and nimble in traffic. Civilized but with enough capability to get really stupid when no one's looking.
I recommend the CRG shorties as they really fit in with the smallish minimalist look of the bike. The clutch pull is so light compared to the 1098S that you really won't find it a problem. To me the regular ones just seems to long for this bike.
Still got more breaking in to do before the 1st oil change and get the exhausts and cams installed. With a claimed 10% more hp in the mid-hi rpms? I can't wait!
