My son and I are planning on going down to the twisty sisters (335,336,337) and riding for a few days. Does anyone have any experience with places to stay in the area ? I know pickins' are slim down there but Koyote is about the only camping place I've found close by. I'm towing an enclosed trailer that doubles as our tent at night. So, no hotels....just camp sites that can accommodate a 14' trailer and preferably showers on-site. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Chuger650 has a place in Camp Wood. He's a forum supporter. Here's his intro post...

I have stayed at Koyote Ranch a couple of times. They have both regular tent sites and pull thru's for RV's with water and electricity. They also have air conditioned cabins for rent along with safari type tents with queen sized beds in them and electricity. In my opinion it is a great place to stay in the hill country as everything you need is there at the site. They have a restaurant and general store on the premises and on some weekends they have bands that play there. I stayed once in the safari tents and the second time in one of the airconditioned cabins. I was satisfied with the accomodations both time although some people may say it is a little pricey. The safari tent was about $75 for a one night stay and the cabin was about the same price. For me it was worth it as you can't beat the location if you want to do day rides in the hill country and use Koyote Ranch as a base and at night the stars put on quite a show. May try to go back down there in the fall.

Thanks for the replies guys. I kind of thought that Koyote would be ok. I've been perusing their website for the last few days and it looks like a nice place. Yeah Keith I knew about Chuger 650's place but my father-in-law has a lease just south of the bridge in Camp Wood that I could stay at for free but I was really looking for a more central location to the majority of roads in the area.

The Quiet Valley Ranch is just a few miles from Koyote Ranch and they have camping and showers and they are a lot cheaper.

...and then of course there's my place in Utopia... FREE, but no frills. Nice river for swimming or fishing, reasonably located for all the rides, etc. Pics and info here (http://www.impakt.net/~edscott/camping/) and info about the rally, places to ride and places to eat here (http://www.impakt.net/~edscott/rally/) .

BUT if you want a really nice place with all the conveniences, cafe, etc... that's Koyote Ranch... ask for Asha.
