Ok ok ... I'm all for keeping my money in the local economy and helping out the shops around town, but when trying to find my 2004 ST1300 ABS so late in the season, I had no option but to look outside the state ...

AND OH MY HOW SWEET IT WAS!!!

For those who don't know, Corinth MS is a smaller town in northeast Mississippi, about an hour outside of Memphis, TN. Total drive from Plano to Corinth is about 544 miles. Lake Hill deals in Yamaha and Honda, but most of their sales are Honda. From what the sales guy told me, they sell as many as 760 units a month, and last year sold right around 7500 units. Their show room was bigger than every dealer's entire facility here in DFW, and then they had two huge warehouses out back packed with motorcycles and atvs. It was a very impressive setup.

Now for the good stuff. It must be cause of their location and lower overhead, but Lake Hill saved me $1601.00 off what dealers were wanting me to pay for my '04 ST1300A here in Dallas. They were $2100 off Honda's MSRP on the bike! There was no haggling, their prices are listed on their website (http://www.lakehillmotors.com). They even handled the registration and titling of the bike with the State of Texas.

With the drasticly lower price, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, I mean ... this seemed too good to be true. I expected that either I'd get out there Saturday and find the sold the bike out from under me, or would start dinking with the price or forcing extended warranties, or just generally keep me out there all day over little things. While I did tell them I would be out there Saturday, I forgot to call them when I was headed up to Memphis on Friday to let them know what time in the morning I was planning to be there. We got there just after they opened Saturday morning. I was in and out in just under 2 hours ... and part of that time was the 20 minute warehouse tour I requested. When we got there, they had the bike assembled, but had not done prep on it yet. They prepped the bike while I signed paperwork, then they helped load us up and we were off.

They absolutely exceeded every expectation I had, and surprised me with how easy they were to deal with. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new Honda or Yamaha who doesn't mind driving a little for great service. If you call out there, ask for Kirk. They can be reached at 800.569.6205.

Good deal. I talked with them a couple years ago when looking for a new CBR 954. My only problem was that the listed price is for cash only.

I financed through Honda Finance at the price listed. Granted, I did the pre-approval off Honda's website, but they had no problem with me going that route instead of paying cash.

They are showing the 2004 raven/silver FZ1 I got at about the same price I beat the Dallas dealer down to. :) Yamaha Suzuki of Texas.

I haven't been very impressed withthe dealership though. Enough that I doubt I would buy another bike from them.

That's good to hear Charlie. For years I've looked at Lake Hill's website to see what the actual selling price might be on a particular model.

I've heard from others who had a good buying experience with them. I'm glad to hear of yours.

Power to the educated consumer!

I just returned from Lake Hill with a 2007 Yamaha Midnight Warrior. I had nearly the same experience as Rocket Cowboy with the purchase. After approaching several local dealers and giving them the chance to come within $500 of Lake Hill's price, I decided to do business in Mississippi. Wired the EXACT amount listed on Lake Hills website, made the drive. Was in and out of the dealership within 30 minutes with the bike loaded in the back. Sign here, sign there, congratulations - she's all yours. Doc fees are included in their prices - what is listed online is OTD, no BS charges added.

Even with several local dealers still sitting on new 2006 Warrior's half-way through 2007, plus several good "used" bikes in the cycle trader and e-bay, I still figure that I came out ahead in terms of value for my money by going with Lake Hill. Was a long drive (just under 1500 miles round trip) - but even with the price of gas, and a night in a hotel, and my time to pay taxes, tag and title the bike, I still expect to come out over $1,000 ahead. Local dealers wouldn't even go as low on a more common blue '06 as I found on the less common midnight '07. Thumbs up for Lake Hill.
