brake light switch

does anyone know the ins and outs of brake light switches? I seem to have corrupted mine. I accidently (because I didn't know what I was doing) took my switch apart while rebuilding the master. I have looked through the manual and it shows the switch but not the guts. Now when I put it back together, it has a nice little fireworks display when I depress the lever. What am I missing? :headbang: :tears:

Sounds like you're only missing one thing...........a new switch!! :mrgreen:

Seriously, I worked on my wife's 1st bike trying to get the brake light switch (the one on the bars) to work, took it apart, sanded the contacts. Never could get that thing back together like it should have been. Ended up ordering a new one. Wasn't that expensive and saved my stress and anger for more important things.

That was my next step but seeing as how it's a '79, I was going to try do do it my self. But come to think of it I think I could do without the headache. Maybe I'll do a little looking on ebay. Thanks for making up my mind.
