Forgive me if this has been covered before:

What about a Chat Room for online users to go into and chat with eachother directly?

Well, I can only guess at how slow some of these guys type...

I think that a chat room would be an idea we could spawn on the side, like a Yahoo! room called TWTex. That way, it wouldn't have to be something that Scott would have to monitor or Admin (his plate is full). We could set a time for a weekly chat, or just keep a post on here to say "hey, I'm over there now if anyone wants to join me".

So yes, I think it's a good idea, but not necessarily within the forum itself.

Oh, and I can't chat from work, so I'd be jealous of all y'alls conversations...

There is an IRC server running on the same machine that hosts the twtex website, so with Scott's permission a twtex chat room could be created.

Rebecca probably has the right idea though ... I think a yahoo hosted group would probably be easier for people to check in on during the day from work and what not.

I am willing to consider having a chat room here. As it will not be moderated, the users will HAVE to excercise some self restraint. Too often I have seen chat rooms erupt into serious flame wars that lead to hard feelings. So we will do a trial and if everything is cool, then we can keep it. But if things start getting out of hand, I won't hesitate to drop it. I'll let you know when it is ready to roll.

Adios,

Yahoo games are free and you can play cards, pool, etc.

Awesome Scott, thanks.

Too often when I log in I'm thinking, -oh, so & so's logged in, wouldn't it be cool if we could join a real-time chat for a bit...-.

I think it will bring some of us closer together. And if any flamers start abusing it, I say we kick their ***** :pound: and maybe remove their chat priveliges, or something like that!?! We don't need a bunch of flaming crap going on in here.

Just say no to :angryfir: .

I look foreward to trying it out!

Here you go:

irc://irc.twtex.com/twtex

Chat to your heart's content. The chat room is monitored and everything logged, so be on your best behavior ;-) I'll make a link on the header of each page tomorrow... well... actually later today  Off to bed now...

Do you have an IRC client (mIRC, Xchat, Trillian) installed?

Scott is using Mozilla, and I just checked with Netscape and it worked. If you're using IE, it might not now how to handle those IRC links ...
