My escort Passport has a 3.5 socket on it for those wishing to use earphones. Earphones are a hassle for me cuz you're connected to the radar detector via lead wire and the ear buds are uncomfortable for me. I had a H.A.R.D. system that transmitted the signal to a receiver attached to the helmet that set off an LED. They are very nice, until either the transmitter or the receiver go south...which is sooner than you expect. They are especially suseptible to rain.

Here's my idea for another solution that I can't seem to find an answer for:
How do I hook up an LED to a 3.5 plug to illuminate when the signal goes off? With maybe a foot of wire, I could attach it to my windscreen in direct line of sight thusly eliminating any high tech solution to a stone axe problem.

I've tried soldering an LED to a stereo wire, but they are of a different diameter (gauge) and looks very cod-like in design. Any suggestions...please?

Yep, gotta give a big thumbs up to Marc Parnes and his led widget. Works great but is a bit distracting at night if you don't turn the volume down.

The key is to shine it right in your eyes during the day but beware at night for sure, it will blind you. ( red dots everywhere ):eek2:

I use mine on top of my Passport 8500 with velco and it works great. ;-)

I am planning to get the H.A.R.D. system from legal speeding. Friend has it and swears buy it. That $60 one above is very tempting also. Hmmm
