very sad, it was a family ride and the grandmother was killed, her daughter was one of the seriously injured while the son/ grandson was not hurt, he had to see it happen.
they had pulled under the bridge when it started raining, police said they were five feet off the road when the jeep came through out of control and hit the bikes.

Thoughts and prayers.
The jeep driver should be charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to maintain control at the very least. One of the bikes looked like a bagger pulling a trailer or a trike, a pretty significant visual picture to not see.

THe overpass provides a false sense of security!?!?!?!?!! How about trying to stay out of the rain and not ride in it. Im sorry but that really irks me. I'll keep my fully expressed opinions on the media quiet. Moving on, that looked like a pretty new Goldwing. Sincerest condolences to the little boy and his family, that is something no one should have to witness.

So sad. I know the area well since I drive through there every day. At 5:00 P.M. in a heavy downpour that stretch of road would have been insane with people driving too fast for the conditions and nearly blind. Not a good time to park five feet off the road.
I don't remember when or where but I was taught long ago to NEVER stop under overpasses to avoid the rain - for exactly this reason. It's a bad practice.
My heart goes out to the family.

Hey, if you want to avoid the rain and park there, that's one thing... but personally, I'd work my way up the bridge ramp and be a LOT farther from the roadway PERSONALLY. A crashed bike is one thing. Hindsight of course.... and yeah, looks like a very late model Goldwing.

My thoughts exactly. Don't know if they just got stopped and even had time to move out of the way? Too sad....
As far as not riding in the rain, hard to predict where and when a thunderstorm may pop up in Texas.

hate to hear about this.
I've parked under overpasses before but I NEVER stay on the bike - always get off it and over the guardrail and up away from the bikes so if this very thing happens.
If it's raining so bad I can't see to drive why would a cage driver be able to see either?

FORT WORTH -- A 65-year-old female motorcycle rider was killed and a second female rider was seriously injured Monday after a Jeep lost control on a rain-soaked freeway in far north Fort Worth and slammed into them.
Police said the riders -- believed to be a mother and daughter -- were hit after they parked under an overpass, apparently waiting for a late-afternoon thunderstorm to pass. A 9-year-old boy, who had earlier been riding on the back of one of the women's bikes, had gotten off and was not in the immediate vicinity when the wreck occurred, police said.
"Thank God he wasn't sitting on the back," police Sgt. H.G. Baxter said.
Police said a green Jeep was traveling south on Interstate 35W about 3:45 p.m. when the driver lost control and slid into two motorcycles parked under the Heritage Trace Parkway overpass, said Lt. Arthur Barclay of the traffic investigation unit. Barclay said it is unclear whether the women were seated on their bikes or standing next to them when the Jeep crashed.
The motorcyclist who was pronounced dead on the scene was later identified as Delores Montgomery of Sanger. The other motorcyclist and the driver of the Jeep were taken to area hospitals, police said. The names and conditions of the others involved in the accident were not immediately known.
Traffic was backed up for hours Monday afternoon as police worked the scene. Drivers rolled past slowly, staring at the two wrecked motorcycles.
The mangled Jeep was several yards away. Next to it was a yellow tarp that covered the body of the victim.
"Lord have mercy," said Will Lardge, a passer-by who often rides motorcycles. "They were trying to do the right thing. They probably didn't want to ride on pavement in the rain with a kid."

RIP :-(
Ech, no good. In July I was coming back from SD going through FTW. Down I35W on a sunday around 2 and it was raining. One of THE worst experiences riding I've ever had... People weren't paying attention, I was white knuckled the entire time and observation was in overtime while trying to wipe the road grime from my visor. A couple wrecks had traffic stop and go-- in general a nightmare to drive in, much less ride. Never again.
Hope the others come out of it ok :(

I was caught in a turd-floater on Sunday in West Arlington and after getting pushed over two lanes by the wind and seeing sheets of rain going horizontal I decided that I'd pull off. I bypassed a bridge that I could've stopped at and took the next exit and sought out shelter under a Shell station for about 20 minutes till it let up.
A Channel 11 camera guy was there filming and asked me if I was nuts to be riding in this. I just told him, "don't worry buddy, it's not like I'm doing this by choice. I'm just trying to get home."

What a shame indead. I remember watching that storm as I skirted north of it on my way home on 114 that very afternoon. I cross I 35 @ around 4:15pm and had the good fortune of being able to get to the house just minutes before the storm hit my house.
This kind of tragedy breaks my heart. I have stopped under bridges to don my rain gear more than once. As already suggested I park as close to the side of the road as possible and I always face the traffic as I dress and have an excape route to dive toward should I see some idiot coming at me.
I never "Hang Out" under a bridge.
RIP
