Just a heads up. I recently had my bike (GS1200) serviced at Alamo BMW. Later, about a hundred miles into a ride, I noticed one of the valve cover bolts was about an eighth of an inch out. I stopped the bike and tightened it and checked the other bolts. Turns out, all of the bolts on that valve cover were very loose, like they had been only hand tightened! The other side was fine. Apparantly, they neglegted to tighten the bolts after checking the valves.

Ok. So, I decide to have new tires put on the bike and order the tires through Lone Star, in Austin. They call me after the tires come in and say bring the bike in. I trailer it to them, drop it off and they will call me when done. I get a call three hours later that they received the wrong size tire. So, reordered. Geez, would it have been too much for them to verify the tires beforehand? I thought Lone Star was supposed to be good.

I thought Lone Star was supposed to be good.
My wife's cousin use to work at Alamo (Master Mechanics, or whatever his title is... one of a very select few from what I understand), now works in north Texas. He has nothing but nice things to say about Lone Star, and nothing but bad things to say about most other dealerships.
I've only have very positive things to say about them... but you know, even great dealerships have things that go wrong.

My ONLY complaint about Lone Star is their service department. I've only had a 600 mile service performed and only because it was included in the purchase of the bike, but the first available appointment was a month away. It appears to me that a shop expansion would be in order.

No, Kurt you're right about that. It's usually 3 to 4 weeks before I can get my bike into their service bay. If I did it right, I'd do the service myself, but I'm usually swamped with projects, so I let them take care of it.

Yeah, you're probably right, I was just pissed because I broke other plans to get the bike done that day and had to trailer the bike from S.A and back and will have to haul that trailer back up to Austin to get the bike. I figured that when they put my name on the tires, they would have verified the tires were the correct ones.

Stuff happens. Bikes are repaired by humans and humans can/do make mistakes. Parts are ordered by humans and humans can/do make mistakes.
Did you tell them what happened? Were they helpful? Why did you trailer from SA to Austin? Were the tires that shot? Unless the tires are something really exotic, I can't understand why you couldn't get what you needed in SA.
If I upset you, I apologize. I am just interested in getting the other side of the story.
