Bells Texas
Sunday evening at race time,I was pumped and ready to give the 300 XC/W what I called a good workout. I got a really good start, was in fourth after the first two miles, right on the rear tire of the third place guy. Going into a left hand sweeper, he went wide and I decided to stay inside, just clip the cedar bush and put a pass on him. No one told me that the cedar bush had a three inch diameter tree of some kind growing right up through the middle of it. I tagged the large limb with my left handle bar, then found myself doing one of my best Superman imitations, all the way to the other side of the track. After I collected myself off the ground, picked the bike up and inspected it, I was in last place. After I got back into the race, I figured the only way I could catch any of these guys, was to do all the jumps,do the crazy creek crossing, and do the giant log crossings.:eek2: After the first two laps I gave up on the giant log crossings, all they did was slow me down and rip the skid plate bolts out, but I stayed after the creek crossing. I could gain about 20 seconds on anyone not doing the creek. On the last lap, I dropped off into the creek, crossed the water, through the mud pit, and then I started up the off camber little ledge you had to traverse to get to the top. I thought I had enough momentum to make it all the way up, but just as I reached the top, my rear wheel slid to the left real hard and the bike went down on the right side. Some how I managed to land on top of the bike. The left foot peg got underneath my armor and like to have ripped my right booby off. I slid off the bike, back down the hill, and just rolled over and laid on my back moaning. I can take a lot of pain, but man that hurt like all get out, and it also knocked the breath out of me. Some young man at the top had grabbed the bike and keep it running for me, and two other guys came down to check on me. It was so muddy and slick at the bottom, they had to help me up the hill. There was no way anyone could walk up that slippery thing! After all that, I hobbled on to the finish line with a 10th place. Like someone said..........."some days you ride the bike, some days the bike rides you" Seems like Sunday was the latter. I wish I had some race pics but I don't, all I go is this ugly shot!

I'm okay..........physically,just not sure about the other. Just wish I hadn't tagged the cedar bush on the first lap, then maybe I wouldn't have done this. It's tough being in the rear and playing catch up. I rode for all I was worth, and only caught four other Y3XX riders.

Come on..........let's see some pictures of the ugly stuff.
Does it seem to you that there was an awful lot of injuries at Bells Sunday? I saw lots of missing and bruised skin and a few broken bones.
I loved Tom's setup of the track, how about you? I thought it had a good flow to it, not too much high speed stuff, with just the right amount of woods, gullies, logs, and creek crossings.
And, what did you think of the fo-fiddy?

I hear that... I gave up motorcycle roadracing, but missed the competitiveness of racing, so after only owning my yz250f for about 3 or 4 weeks, I entered my first STORM race, lol... I had only rode the bike 2 or 3 times prior to the race.

See ya at Outlaw Trax this weekend?

If that question is directed toward me Tim, the answer is a no. About the only series I race in is TCCRA and TORO. Mostly in the North Texas
area, and besides that, I can't do a race two weekends in a row, My worn out knees and old body won't allow it! So, how is the STORM thing going for you?

Wow, that looks painful.

I was going to try and make some crack about you being old, but I know that just means you can whip by me while showering me with dirt. If I avoid the old jokes you might be polite and just past me like I am standing still. You have a lot more skill than I do, I am glad you are not tooo hurt, just worn out.

I know i left a few large chunks of skin. Care flight took a teenage boy i know (larry) on hill climb. broke (tib-fib) sad part they took his sister the day before as a precaution. Brakes on fo-fiddy are just a little touchy vs my yz250, liked it enough im trying to find one in my budget
