RICHLAND HILLS -- A Fort Worth motorcyclist died Thursday night after his vehicle hit the back of a sports utility vehicle on Texas 121 and crashed, police said today.

According to preliminary police reports, the 38-year-old man was traveling at speeds near 100 miles per hour when his 2004 Harley-Davidson hit the SUV.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Estaban Ponce who died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth shortly after the accident.

Police responded to a traffic accident shortly after 9 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Texas 121.

The motorcyclist was attempting to change lanes when his vehicle hit the SUV, police said. Ponce lost control of his motorcycle and went down, police said.

The driver of the SUV lost control after the vehicle was hit and rolled over, police said. The SUV driver and a passenger were treated at the scene, police said.

You can get Harleys up that fast, not saying theyre real fun, though. just a shame. you see guys doing that all the time. It kinda bugs me when you see dudes doing 90+ with nothing on. I cant do 40 without my eyes watering if I dont have the full face on.

100 mph I can deal with. Do it all the time (not on a HD). But in the city and at 9 pm at night? Yikes. Adds way too many variables for my tastes.

100 MPH plus on an HD at 9:00 PM, I think I smell alcohol some where in this scenerio. Sorry he bit the dust also.

That road is always busy no matter what time of the day.

I hear ya on the eyes watering, I wear glasses and a lot of the time I can't go very far with the sheild up if it's trying to fog over without tearing up.

I'd like to know if alcohol will be a factor.

Good grief. 100 mph on a Harley is easy. There are two stretches of long straight road that the wife and I hit outside of Houston and we are up to 100 in seconds. About 115, I have had enough, although the wife is right on my tail looking for more..................

I have never said that Harley's aren't capable of doing 100mph. I know they are. I just think there were more factors involved that we weren't informed about.

That is all
