My brother Keith (AKA leeroy) took a fall at TWS in turn two Sat. He broke five ribs! I don't know any of you but he said lots of people went out of their way to help him. Kent loaded his bike up and cleaned everything up and one of you even drove his motorhome back to Hutto. Thanks so much. I Hope to meet all who helped someday.

Broken, cracked, bruised ribs are a PITA to heal and deal with. He'll be ready to go by the next track day.

OMG - leeroy!
Was he admitted or did he head home already?
Listen kiddo - you know you're not allowed to go sliding like that! Heal up fast so I can chase you around next year out there.
I'm trying to think of some wry witticism to insert here in his honor, but just can't. Heal up and let me know if there is anything you need. I'm right down the road.

The front tire washed out in turn two. He is at Scott and White in Round Rock (last night) and tonight at least.

:tab I spoke with him earlier this evening. He is in the Morphine drip happy place right now :lol2: Just broken ribs and he was NOT on the VFR. Fortunately he had a dedicated track bike. Unfortunately, this means he won't be able to make the Autumn Rally with us in Ark  Here's to hoping he has no sneezing fits or laughing attacks between now and when the ribs heal up

Five ribs? Aiee chihuahua! :eek2: We thought it was just one or two.
But that's a further testament to the incredible combination of toughness and easy-going attitude that is the essence of leeroy. Although he went down early in the day, he let certain other, erm, completely selfish people  finish their sessions before bringing him home, stating, "Hey, I can sit hurting at home, or sit hurting here." :hail:
Heal, fast, K.M.! ;-)

Paul, I assume you drove the MH back Sat. I really want to thank you! I was in Waco in my MH and was going to have to come get him if you had not. I talked to him this morning and it sounds like the Morphine is working......maybe a little to well. I must tell you that Keith was really touched by all the help he received. Some of it from people he does not know all that well.

I miss one track day with Keith this year! After he passes me in 11, looks like I'll be able to get back him in 1 and 2 next year.;-)
Just got off the phone, he is doing well despite the hospital trying to OD him on morphine last night.
Get well soon, buddy!

... Just got off the phone, he is doing well despite the hospital trying to OD him on morphine last night. He has the button, so it isn't the hospital doing the over serving.
If a downed rider in obvious pain tells you that he can wait to go to the hospital, don't listen to him. Keith also had a partially collapsed lung to go with those broken ribs. He is one tough guy, but I should been much more insistent about taking him to the hospital in College Station. My bad.
Paul, thanks for driving the RV. You made getting Keith home with all his gear much easier than the initial plan.

Thanks for all your help Kent!
You guys are too old to ride bikes this fast. Come race cars (NASA, Camaro Mustang Challenge) with my son and I instead.

Maybe I misunderstood him, but I thought the "button" served up a bit more then anticipated in a single serving.

JerryWas glad I could do something for Keith. I hear you on the cars. Have a P-Boxster S. Took it on the track a few times. Just not the same for me. I know, I am twisted that way. Check your PM.

At first he just kept mentioning the shoulderblade and we had the medic put some ice on that.
No kidding on his toughness. He kept trying to see if he felt better and once even mentioned "Maybe I am just a wuss" .. I guess not! :-P Tough man.
Take it easy Keith, the next weeks will be pretty bad but just hang in there. My mom had the exact same happen to her after getting bucked off a horse a few years back had to sleep in a chair for 6 weeks. I guess make sure you have a comfy sofa chair around or something.
Dang, still can't believe it. Best wishes for a good recovery.
I did take some pics of the bike but won't post them without permission. The front end is pretty much gone. It also looks like all plastics but the pan are history. Rear sets did their job. I am glad it wasn't the VFR!
Heal up quick Keith!

Did someone at least give the poor guy a cigar to puff on before he was on medical lock-down? :lol2:

+1 on the reclining chair. When Dad had many cracked ribs and a few cracked vertebrae in his neck, we got one of those recliners that raise up and down so you don't have to strain to get in/out of them. Dad spent about 6 weeks sleeping in his. I think you can rent them from medical supply stores. Your insurance might even cover the cost.
I expect to see him at work today after his posts on the thread about calling in sick. :-P
I stopped paying for sick days years ago.Attendance improved as well as morale for the employees that were not abusing the sick day program. This is not to say that if someone has serious illness they do not get paid.I deal with that on case by case. The flu and colds, suck it up and come to work I have to.

Maybe I misunderstood him, but I thought the "button" served up a bit more then anticipated in a single serving.:shrug:You had it right. There was a malfunction on the machine such that it gave Keith multiples of the dosage he was supposed to receive when he pressed the button.
Just spoke to Keith and BJ (Keith's wife). They are very appreciative of all the well-wishes and prayers. Just a note, Keith has not been getting enough sleep so please don't call at the hospital. We will wait until he gets home (hopefully tomorrow) to bug him.

Well, I'm hoping he looks better than that! ;-)
Sorry to hear this, I'll try to catch him tomorrow and give him some grief.
Oh, and I guess I should see if he needs anything. He should have used my lucky straps...

I would like to thank paul and paul for getting me and all my stuff home and missing as many bumps as possible. I owe you big time!A big thanks to Kent Steve and nurse Rita and Dr. Patricia for all your help and caring.I would also like to thank all those who offered help and encouragement that I can not remember because ther were so many of you.I do not know what made me cry more the broken ribs or the genuine concern and caring. This has been a very humbling experience for me.I would like to thank you all for all the kind words posted here as well.I must take pain meds now so I can suck it up and go to work.Oh yea, the reason for the crash. Some one said ther was a Taco cabanna behind the orange construction fencing so I went looking for it.

Keith,
Man :eek2: , I haven't been on the website for several days & this is the first post I've read. I was out of town this weekend & haven't talked to anyone.
I'm glad to hear that you are home. :sun: The last time I saw you on the track you were on the VFR. What did you have out on the track? Praying for a speedy recovery. Take care.
