OK ... let me start this by saying that I don't usually actually turn this on. But ... with my job and my habit of going on customer calls on my bike whenever humanly possible, it is sometimes necessary for me to have my cell phone available while riding. So ... for that I got the Scala Rider.

In short, this is, by far, the very best Bluetooth device that I've ever had. Period. And I've gone through far too many Bluetooth headsets to list here. It connects to the phone very quickly and stays reliably connected (yes, this has been an issue with other BT headsets!). The voice-activitated answering works exactly as advertised. Most amazing, however, is that the people that I'm talking to can barely tell that I'm on a bike ... it cuts the windnoise out that much ... even at 40-50 MPH.

So ... if for some reason, you need to talk on your cell while riding, I would highly recommend getting the Scala Rider.

do you wear ear plugs? how is the volume through the plugs?

Uhhh ... haven't tried it with earplugs yet. From what I've seen, it would probably be good (as long as it is cranked way up) to about 30-35 MPH. But you really wouldn't want to be talking on the phone will riding too fast.

I only use mine so I can hear my GPS telling me what a loser I am for missing that last turn back there and now it has to recalculate. I hear the abuse just fine with or without earplugs. I've never tried adjusting the volume. It has always been good enough the way it came. The speed/volume adjusting that the GPS does has been plenty adquate.

Never tried it for cellphone, but I'm sure it would work just fine with a good signal. Earplugs and a scratchy signal might be a problem though.

I have a Scala Rider Teamset for me and my wife and it works very well and I am glad I bought it.

The Bluetooth connection works very well for the cell phone.

I bought them off E-Bay for $170 delivered.
